On Sunday, January 17, 2010, it came to the attention of Father Mark Hyde, sdb, executive director of Salesian Missions – headquartered in New Rochelle, NY, that Joseph “Jay” Cafasso has been representing himself as the Logistic Cluster Coordinator for Salesian Missions Disaster Services.

Salesian Missions has no such department or position within the organization and at no time has Joseph “Jay” Cafasso been a staff member, volunteer or spokesperson within the organization.

Salesian Missions was first contacted by Cafasso earlier this week when he represented himself with Knights Crossing Humanitarian Logistics Services offering assistance with the relief efforts in Haiti. The extent to Cafasso’s involvement with this organization remains unknown and an extensive internet search found no information on Knights Crossing Humanitarian Logistics Services.

Fr. It is typical for him to perform community service in churches - those are the most giving and he thinks stupid people - that is the perfect environment for him to make up a new sob story and take advantage of priests and ministers; and his favorite marks which are lonely older women so he can make sure, like with Andrea Ello, he gets his hands on a tidy little nest egg.

Joe Cafasso REALLY IS the Carteret Con Artist. His latest adventures include the arrest in Indiana on January 22, 2009 which was preceded by a typical Cafasso-esque scene: his forcing himself into a search and rescue operation at the Indiana Dunes; bragging that helicopters would appear which never did, and elbowing his way into the rescue tent and barking orders at everyone. Out of all the rescue personnel at the scene, it was Cafasso, AKA Robert Stormer, who was quoted by the press~! It was his strange behavior and injecting himself into the life of a widow that drew the attention of local authorities. A man who appears from nowhere with no past or friends and relatives should not be trusted. After his traffic stop where he had no valid identification, he was eventually arrested for ‘failure to appear’ in court. It was only then that he admitted that he was Joe Cafasso, but claimed he was going by an alias because spooks were after him.The charges, which interestingly enough, are not mentioned when you call the jail-are “providing false information” to law enforcement (he at first tried to tell him he was Robert Stormer before eventually admitting he is actually Joe Cafasso), “driving on a suspended license”, “speeding”, and using the name and social security number of a 13-year-old girl in Rhode Island whose name is Robin Storm (identity theft).

We always thought that Cafasso was just a blowhard con-man who used (among other things) fake military credentials to gain fame and fortune, mostly to stroke his ego and make a few easy bucks off the unsuspecting "mark". The true purpose of Cafasso’s lifelong con game only recently came to to light: Cafasso has been running a lonely heart's scam all this time. The list of the women left in his wake has grown considerably. And sadly, the most recent was a woman in Indiana: used, abused, and skipped out on.

A Mensa Girl- First, there was the "mark" in Washington DC, who Cafasso spun his CIA tales to. He got a job with FOX News as a Delta Force Colonel and served as their Military Analyst for the 2001-2002 Afghan war. He was exposed by Jack Idema and a bevy of real Special Forces officers in early 2002, and was then fired from FOX (NY Times- The Colonel Who Wasn’t). The woman brilliant: well educated, and well off, with her own townhouse in DC, but lonely. After six months with Cafasso she was broke, left alone standing at the altar, and in fear for her life. Cafasso told her that he was deep undercover with the CIA and if she ever complained about him she would die. She so believed this that she moved to a remote area of West Virginia, used a PO Box in another town, and went into hiding. It took 6 months for Special Forces soldiers to find her so Jack Idema could interview her. When they first showed up at her house, the woman said “please don’t kill me.” The response from Jack was, “What? What are you talking about? Are you crazy?” And then it all came out. Cafasso had led her to believe that there was already a CIA hit team looking for her. The interview was frightening; Cafasso had turned the woman’s life into a living hell, driving her from family and friends into a life of solitude and fear.

A Boston Girl- Then, there was a lady in Boston. Divorced, lonely, with a beautiful condo. Cafasso spun his web around her next. Five months later, after being outed in a bar by a Massachusetts police officer, Cafasso attacked Robin Moore, beating the old man for telling him he would not be part of Moore’s new Special Forces book. Moore was left with extensive bruises from the beating. Cafasso high-tailed it out of there. He left behind his new love and took her money. But, as fate would have it, in his haste to leave town, Cafasso also left behind two cartons of papers. Those papers later ended up in Jack Idema’s hands and painted a picture of extensive fraud by Cafasso, who was working with Ed Artis at Knightsbridge to fraudulently obtain USAID grants of millions of dollars posing as phony Knights and Colonels with phony PhDs.

Robert Stormer was making quite a name for himself in Porter County.

In the few months he lived here, he settled in with a Chesterton widow and bragged of his 18 years' experience as a storm chaser, his decorated career in the military, his successful business in Chicago, his passion for volunteer work, and his connections in New York and Washington.

That's typical of his profile; he is not satisfied being who he is; he needs to be someone else!

He gave well-attended seminars on severe weather at Indiana Dunes State Park in Chesterton, seeking publicity from local newspapers for his speech. He maintained a blog. He planned to host a talk show on a Michigan City radio station.

And to those he knew better, he hinted at a darker side to his life of adventure, of the scrutiny from Washington insiders, the FBI and the CIA.

And when a conservation officer stopped him on his way out of the state park Oct. 2, Bob Stormer was the name he gave.

And it turned out Robert Stormer wasn't his name at all.

It's a good thing they found out who he was at this point; and it's a good thing Tony kept searching for his name.

Under his given name of Joseph A. Cafasso Jr., "Rob Stormer" was charged with giving a false name to police, speeding and driving with a suspended license. He didn't show up for his November court date, and was arrested in January at the Jasper County Library in Wheatfield, where he had been scheduled to give a presentation on storm chasing.

Did you get that, "fly"? GIVING A FALSE NAME TO POLICE, along with the traffic violations which Cramer said wouldn't "stick"!

So far, he has not been able to pay the $500 bond, and remains in jail awaiting trial on the false informing and traffic charges.

I'm amazed that no one has bailed him out yet! Cramer, where are you? Or what about the Johnson fellow? There are some people who--no matter what he does--they have a tremendous amount of sympathy and excuses to offer for his behavior!

Conservation officers and the Chesterton Police said they have passed their investigation of Cafasso, ostensibly a traffic stop, to the FBI.

It will be interesting to see if anything comes of it; nothing has happened in the past when people have reported about Cafasso to the FBI. Cafasso as Lt. Col. Gerry Blackwood was passing his own information to the FBI...he was used as a source by the FBI!

The FBI would not comment on whether an investigation of Cafasso is in the works. Other than the traffic offenses, what crimes Cafasso might have committed in Northwest Indiana aren't clear.

That's the way it seems to be with him, although isn't embezzlement a crime--isn't embezzling money under a false name STILL FRAUD?

But it seems a bizarre reckoning for Cafasso, who in 2002 convinced Fox News executives that he was a retired lieutenant colonel and became a paid consultant on intelligence and military affairs for the network.

How did he do it? People who know him say it's a combination of sheer charisma -- and not just a little b.s.

After several months, the New York Times reported, it was revealed Cafasso's military experience amounted to 44 days in the Army in 1976. Fox fired him, and Cafasso later appeared in a documentary on the network, still claiming to be a decorated veteran and griping about Fox producers.

Of course, when he's not in control (or he is found out), he gets irritated and angry. That is when he is dangerous.

Cafasso was well on his way to winning over Department of Natural Resources staff at Dunes State Park, convincing them he was an expert on storms and marine salvage.

During his first presentation, Cafasso patched in calls with the mayor of Greensburg, Kan., whose town had been flattened by tornadoes in 2007, and a French yacht owner who had nearly died in a shipwreck in Tropical Storm Andrea, said Brad Baumgartner, a park worker who booked Cafasso for two speaking engagements.

"He was pretty good. There was nothing that he was saying that sounded like an inaccuracy," Baumgartner said. "To that time, we didn't know anything to say that he wasn't who he said he was."

Well, as discussed earlier, when questioned about his credentials he gets angry and considers it harassment. That might be a telling sign...

And who was he?

Fox officials believed Cafasso was indeed a former Special Forces officer who seemed to have connections throughout the Pentagon and on military bases across the country.

But Fox officials learned the truth-he spent only 44 days in the Army before someone figured something out-he was released as "unsuitable for service" from the Army-and for that reason and others (including his pompous attitude)- they fired him.

He met Andrea Ello, a Chesterton widow who responded to his profile on an on-line dating site. His username was "shipdude," and he posted a picture of himself wearing deep sea diving gear that obscured his face, and two photos of shipwrecks.

There are too many pictures of him out on the internet now; and there are too many people who are interested in his being caught and prosecuted. If only more of these women would come forward to declare what it is he did to them!

In his profile, he claimed to be 58-year-old "senior master salvor" from Chicago, who supervised the recovery of ships worldwide, a man with "twin engineering degrees" and an "associates in the culinary arts."

"Most importantly, and the love that I am married to is international humanitarian relief operations," the profile reads. "Yep got under my skin. Yes I like to travel maybe even with a new found love."

It makes no mention of his military experience or his work for Fox.

Well of course not! This man is not stupid! He is a consummate liar and his dating profile was a LURE!

Cafasso's passion for storm chasing also goes unmentioned, but he clearly knew a great deal about severe weather and sailing, said Jean Pierre de Lutz, the French expatriate whom Cafasso included in the conference call for his Dunes weather talk.

De Lutz and his two-man crew survived a harrowing shipwreck in the North Atlantic in 2007 aboard his boat, the Sean Seymour II, a story that was widely publicized in the sailing community both for its drama and because of equipment malfunctions that made the adventure all the more dangerous.

Unfortunately, he jumped right in to save the day - but things unraveled afterward and although he did a lot of things that were helpful, what he did afterward was completely despicable.

Reached at his home in France, de Lutz said Cafasso contacted him later in 2007, using the name Robert Stormer, and began what would become 18 months of intensive research into the wreck, which included complex forecasting simulations, flurries of correspondence with the National Atmospheric and Oceanic Administration, and de Lutz's team of three Orlando-based attorneys.

Yes, he has the ability to go that far with things undetected under the guise of being a do-gooder! And actually accomplishing some good things!

Cafasso's work, initially, led to changes in NOAA forecasting reports and reforms, de Lutz said. The Post-Tribune was unable to reach anyone from NOAA to confirm they had contact with Stormer or Cafasso.

It's unfortunate. The NOAA would be somewhat embarrassed - just as it is with the FBI and other agencies he's dealt with in the past.

At any rate, Cafasso's findings took a turn to the fantastic, de Lutz said. Cafasso provided a series of e-mails that seemed to implicate senior NOAA officials and congressional leaders in a cover-up of sorts, de Lutz said. Cafasso and Ello stayed for three weeks in Orlando, hosted at the home of one of de Lutz's lawyers, as they prepared a lawsuit.

De Lutz's legal team was waiting for a key document to be released following a congressional hearing when Cafasso announced he had been called to aid a salvage crew dealing with a shipwreck off the coast of Newfoundland.

Kind of like his story about "I was in the North Sea when I got the call about Hurricane Katrina". That was when he was using the name "Jay Cafasso" in Louisiana, if I recall. He got caught up in the big tales he was telling to JP and had no way out except to 'disappear'. This is his PATTERN.

Cafasso left, and soon after stopped answering calls from de Lutz and his lawyers. De Lutz believes a laptop computer belonging to Cafasso that Ello turned over to Chesterton Police will have dozens of e-mails, many of them likely faked, between Cafasso and officials with NOAA, the Coast Guard and congressional aides.

Oopsie, a little detail you left out there, Andy - that's not Cafasso's computer - that's Cramer's apple laptop which she GAVE Cafasso when he was posing as Lt. Col. Gerry Blackwood. He couldn't be pursued for theft of the laptop or the charges on her American Express card because she willingly gave them to him - but she gave him the card, thinking it was to HOLD the room-not to pay for his staying there for a month- he did all of this to Kathryn Cramer pretending to be someone that doesn't exist - and that is STILL FRAUD. And what he did to Tony Ello's mother is fraud, too.

De Lutz admits he paid for a hotel room for Cafasso, who claimed to have lost his wallet, and that he believes Cafasso somehow got the card number and used it to make a purchase in Indiana. He also wired money to Ello on Cafasso's behalf, $1,000 Cafasso said he would use to buy a piece of meteorological equipment.

"So he got maybe $2,500 from me," de Lutz said. "And this, for 18 months of work? It doesn't make sense."

No, it doesn't! And he has repeated this act a number of times under numerous aliases!

Cafasso, Stormer and more

Cafasso has declined requests for an interview by the Post-Tribune, but he reportedly has talked to Ello, and to John Johnson, a Tucson, Ariz., minister who said he met Cafasso in the early 1990s when Jones was selling marine equipment and Cafasso was working for a marine salvage company in New York.

There is something very odd about this John Johnson in Tuscon Arizona....if it's the minister I'm thinking of, he's not out of Arizona; he's out of Lombard, Illinois...someone who acted as a surrogate mother for Cafasso and paid for his train tickets.

The two stayed in touch over the years, with Johnson gathering that Cafasso had an engineering degree and may have been in the Delta Force, an elite military unit. Johnson said he never thought to question Cafasso, who attended Johnson's wife's funeral in 1999 and has remained in occasional contact. That year, Johnson had dinner at a Washington, D.C., restaurant, with Cafasso and a man who was a retired CIA officer.

"I don't know anything about his military experience, I don't know how you confirm that," Johnson said. "But it's pretty hard to fool the CIA."

But Cafasso is not a stupid man; he has just channeled his intelligence in a very unique way.

In 2006, Jones said Cafasso was using the name "Jay" and occasionally a last name of "Black or Black-something," to avoid followers of Jonathan Idema. Idema was accused of operating an illegal prison in Afghanistan who also had apparently wildly overstated his military experience, and reportedly believes he was wronged by Cafasso.

Not according to this! Idema had not "wildly overstated his military experience" - there is no proof of that. There IS, however, proof that Cafasso is not what he claimed to be, let's stay on the subject of Cafasso here!

In the blogosphere, where there are several sites maintained by disgruntled acquaintances devoted to tracking Cafasso's movements, he is believed to have used the aliases Jay Mosca and Gerry Blackwood, the latter a decorated military officer in the mold of Cafasso's Fox News persona.

And that's because he couldn't use his given name any longer; particularly since the New York Times article by Jim Rutenberg "At Fox News the Colonel Who Wasn't" was published.

Johnson put Cafasso in touch with a church in Mendenhall, Miss., where Cafasso would spend several weeks working with the congregation and even helping the church secure a $250,000 grant.

And Johnson also paid for his train tickets and who knows what else?

"He didn't make a dime," said Johnson. "He got roof over his head and what passed for food. And he worked incredibly hard."

For some odd reason, like Andrea Ello, Johnson is enable to see Cafasso for the fraud he is - even NOW.

But Cafasso clashed with church leaders, who eventually found the Times article and the many anti-Cafasso sites on the Internet. Cafasso left town soon after. Church leaders and Mendenhall Police Chief Bruce Barlow did not return calls from the Post-Tribune.

Now why wouldn't they be interested in information on Cafasso at this point? Are they merely relieved he has left and have closed the book? Wouldn't they want to compare notes with other agencies such as the FBI on what it is he accomplished while gallavanting across the country under numerous aliases?

Johnson said he would not hesitate to recommend Cafasso to another church, and he worries about why DNR officers seemed intent on investigating Cafasso. "Knowing the guy, I just don't want to see him get the shaft," Johnson said.

You should want to see him face justice for what he's done, though, Mr. Johnson.

Cafasso and Ello had become daily visitors to Indiana Dunes State Park, and were among the first people to the beach during an Aug. 2 drowning at Kemil Beach. Post-Tribune photographers shot pictures of Cafasso, identified as Robert Stormer, scanning the waves with others two days later.

It would be interesting to lay hands on those photographs.

Cafasso told Johnson he began barking orders to rescue crews at the beach, calling on his lengthy experience in maritime rescue opearations. Others with knowledge of the incident said Cafasso did indeed critique the rescue attempt while at the beach, and may have tried to drive off on a DNR officer's ATV.

Cafasso didn't show up for his second scheduled storm chasing presentation in June, and was stopped for speeding on his way out of the park in August.

After giving his real name to police, Cafasso said he was using the alias to avoid the CIA and FBI.

He's afraid of something else; just as Cramer is. Don't worry Kathryn, Idema won't lay his hands on your computer now that it's in the hands of the FBI, but it's rather interesting that the real reason they're both afraid hasn't been identified by the press.

Cafasso apparently has not earned a profit much from his schemes. A few weeks in Florida here, a few months with Ello in Chesterton, highlighted by trips to the beach and a few thousand dollars from de Lutz -- and all of it earned not just on strength of his resume, but with spurts of dogged, hard work.

It's pathetic, isn't it.?

A possible explanation

If Cafasso is not, in fact, a veteran special forces officer and wealthy marine salvage expert who chases storms and aids international relief organizations as a hobby, he likely suffers from one or more personality disorders, said Valparaiso University psychology professor Jim Nelson.

"There are several different psychological paths to this sort of thing," Nelson said. "He has an anti-social personality disorder -- basically, he's a person who doesn't have a conscience, who doesn't see that what he does is hurting people, or doesn't care, rather.

"Then there is more of a delusional, psychotic disorder, if he actually believes these things he says."

He deserves to get some mental help, and I hope they have a psychiatrist examine him because he is a unique specimen, to be sure.

Indeed, most of Cafasso's cons seem to fall apart not because he gets greedy, but because can't stop pushing the lies, and struggling to dominate the people he is conning.

At Fox, he clashed with producers, in Mendenhall he crossed church leaders, at Dunes State Park, he tried to show up staffers.

Each time, his attempts to take control prompted the people he was conning to look more closely at his credentials, to question his expertise -- and of course, the personality clashes gave him an explanation for why he had to leave and why his detractors would want to expose him as a liar.

"From what I've seen of him, he's a two-bit con man, but he's capable of pulling much bigger scams.

Most certainly, which is why he deserves jail time and mental help! Hopefully he won't see the light of day as a free man until some of this is unraveled!

"There's this delirium that takes over him, but there is some intelligence behind it," said de Lutz, summarizing his experience with Cafasso.

"He did things that were incredibly good, and all of a sudden, he went off on a tangent and he's writing a novel. My guess is he lives in fantasy land."

Yes he is...but it's a fantasy land that poses severe danger to those who get close to him.

But he is not harmless, Nelson said.

"Many people aren't truthful on occasion ... but it's far different to say that someone only tells the truth occasionally, and when they do, it's probably by mistake," Nelson said. "These people are out there, and the average person is not aware of them, that there are people out there with no sense of obligation to others."

Overall, very nice job with this story, Andy, although I would recommend not smearing the name of Idema as a fraud until you can provide proof for what it is you're putting in print. You might end up like Mariah Blake and Columbia University did...on the receiving end of a subpoena. Nothing has been mentioned here about Jack Idema's litigiousness. It is something people should take note of when they are using hearsay and word-of-mouth about people and then turning around and putting it into print as though it were fact.

Tony Ello's life reads like a detective novel since he met a man named Robert Stormer a little more than a year ago.

It's a story about Ello, a regular guy who owns a bowling alley, meeting up with a shady character dating his mother. He and his wife spend a year tracking down the tall tales of Robert Stormer, who's salvaged boats, chased storms, served as a Navy officer and owns never-seen vehicles and aircraft.

But Ello's story is real. The name -- Robert Stormer -- is not. He's Joseph Cafasso, who now sits in the Porter County Jail, as Ello from Chesterton recounts his tale of how he and his wife detected a fraud.

They hope their story cautions others down the road from getting ensnared by Cafasso, a man who exudes immense confidence and intelligence.

Thank you, Tony. That is what this blog is all about...to caution people down the road that this could very well happen to someone they love.

First meeting

Cafasso stopped by Ello's bowling alley with Ello's mother, whom he was dating after meeting through an online dating site.

He introduced himself as "Robert Stormer," the same name Andrea Ello, Tony's mother, knew him as.

And he was a storm chaser.

"I thought 'bullsh--'," Tony said. "Stormer? Being a storm chaser? He talks a good game."

He certainly does! He has scammed so many people it's ridiculous! The tragedy is how long this has been going on and it's a shame that Kathryn Cramer hasn't come clean as to the depth and breadth of her relationship with him.

Then, he shared other details. He told Ello he was a retired lieutenant commander in the Navy's "Salvage Department" and is consulted regularly as an expert in salvaging nuclear weapons in oceans.

All within that first meeting, "Stormer" mentioned he and his family of lawyers and engineers runs a company. He claimed he had signatory rights of up to $300,000.

And on the spot, he expressed his interest to partner up with the bowling business.

Well of course, he smelled a chance to make off with some cash.

Tony, 43, brushed it off and told him he'd look into it. His reservations grew when he couldn't find any information about "Stormer" on the Internet.

"I'm a nobody and my name shows up on the Internet," he said. "I couldn't verify anything he said."

After a few months, he stopped giving "Stormer" the benefit of the doubt.

He and Evelyn, his wife, took a time-consuming interest in pursuing "Stormer's" identity.

Until earlier this year, the couple tried to nudge Andrea away from the man, but to no avail.

Andrea declined to be interviewed for this story.

That is where a lot of women left in his path of destruction wind up; embarrassed and broken-hearted; not willing to file charges, even.

Strange stories

Tony and Evelyn picked up on some odd patterns that included "Stormer" often talking on the phone in the spur of the moment -- even though no one heard the phone ring.

It didn't ring, and he didn't dial!

He would also make grandiose plans, including private helicopter rides to Chicago to see a musical theater performance or a trip to Rhode Island to visit his hospitalized nephew.

How dramatic - I have tickets to go see "Wicked"...and then when the helicopter shows up, he said "we can use the tickets later". Anyone who's been to the theatre knows it doesn't quite work that way.

And every time, those plans never panned out. An emergency came up and he had to stay put to consult clients over the phone, Cafasso would explain to the family.

When Cafasso claimed that his nephew in Rhode Island was in a coma, Evelyn, a Porter hospital nurse, checked every hospital in the state. Nothing turned up.

"If you've been around a habitual liar, you can spot traits," said Evelyn, 40.

Cafasso lived in Andrea's house in Tefft and essentially lived off her savings. Her home served as a "glorified homeless shelter," Evelyn said.

Unfortunately it was a widow's life's savings that went down the tubes; and not the funds from a Christian ministry or the government. Cafasso doesn't care about anyone but himself - but even then you have to wonder just what exactly he thinks he's accomplishing with all of this; because the pattern repeats itself; time and again!

Big discovery

Within a couple of months Ello and his wife began a series of attempts to uncover "Stormer."

With help from friends, Evelyn concocted a secret identity on a dating site to try to trap Cafasso. She printed out the e-mail correspondence, which included him offering his phone number. They showed the e-mails to Andrea.

But in the end, Evelyn's plan fizzled, only leaving Andrea angry at her.

Now that is odd; you'd think his pursuits of other women would cause Andrea to confront him.

Then in August, the couple began to unravel the web of "Stormer's" calculated lies.

Tony had been typing "Robert Stormer" in a Google search nearly every other day.

On that August day, his search brought out a comment from a blog that exposed Stormer as Joseph Cafasso, "the infamous con artist," it read.

From then on, the Ellos had no trouble searching Cafasso's background.

They stumbled across an April 2002 New York Times profile on him that exposed him as a fraud as well as an extensive Wikipedia page about him.

Despite the overwhelming case against him, Andrea couldn't let go of Cafasso.

"I don't know what goes on in the mind of a lonely widow," Tony said. "She was hanging on to tiny, itty, bitty possible truths instead of the big picture."

It's sad and little consolation to realize that Andrea is not alone in how she's responded to this.; there have been many others before her.

The jig is up

Last October, an officer from the state Department of Natural Resources pulled Cafasso over at Indiana Dunes State Park for speeding and driving with a suspended license.

Authorities discovered that "Robert Stormer" was an alias and also charged him with lying to an officer.

They finally arrested Cafasso last month after he failed to show up at court on those charges.

While in jail, his personal laptop was with Andrea. When Tony found out, he and his mother turned it over to the Chesterton police and it's now held as evidence.

Since Cafasso came into their lives, Tony and Evelyn's relationship with Andrea had deteriorated.

Sometime in early January, Andrea began to distance herself from him, Tony said. She is facing possible bankruptcy because of unpaid bills. She had trusted Cafasso's claim that he had a hefty paycheck on the way for them.

But now the family is back on speaking terms.

"I hope she's learned her lesson," Tony said. "But she's an adult and she'll make up her own mind."

An alleged con man who reportedly duped high-profile military and political figures claiming to be a counterintelligence expert and Special Forces officer now is being investigated by the FBI, local officials said Thursday.

It's relatively common knowledge that Cafasso is indeed a con artist. The long history of frauds he has pulled under numerous aliases some of which are listed in the header on this blog- rivals that of the relatively short career of Abagnale of "Catch Me If You Can" fame.

Joseph Cafasso, 52, has been in the Porter County Jail since Jan. 22, awaiting trial for failing to appear in court on charges of speeding and giving a false name to police investigators after he was pulled over in the Indiana Dunes State Park in October.

Conservation officers declined to comment Thursday on Cafasso, stating his case had been referred to the FBI for further investigation. FBI officials declined to say if they are investigating Cafasso.

And I doubt if they will ever make a statement regarding their "friend" and "stool pigeon".

According to an April 29, 2002, report in the New York Times, Cafasso claimed to be a well-connected spy who had a high-rank career in the Special Forces. Alleged victims included the Fox News network, Pat Buchanan's presidential campaign and "several representatives, military officials and activists to whom he had sold himself for years," the Times reported.

Cafasso also appeared as a military and counterterrorism expert during Fox's coverage of the invasion of Afghanistan, even though military records show that his total military experience was 44 days of boot camp at Fort Dix, N.J., in 1976.

Cafasso reportedly had been living for several months with a Chesterton woman whom he met on an Internet dating Web site, where he posted his identity as "Robert Stormer." That also was the name Cafasso initially gave to Conservation Officer Robert Kauffmann, as well as a false Social Security number, before admitting his real name.

The woman turned over to Chesterton police a laptop computer that belonged to Cafasso and investigators there said they might seek a warrant to search the computer's memory for evidence in an investigation of Cafasso.

That laptop is Kathryn Cramer's apple laptop, and I'm certain she would like to get it back.

All that stands between Cafasso and freedom, pending trial, is $500 bond, the Porter County Sheriff's department said.

That's sad and appalling, considering what they should be investigating regarding his escapades in Indiana and Florida.

Cafasso's alleged exploits have garnered him a Wikipedia page, and several other Web sites and blogs devoted to tracking his movements and activities.

A man who had been residing in Chesterton under the name of Robert Stormer and was charged with false informing in October 2008 when a DNR Conservation Officer said that he identified himself with the Social Security number of a Rhode Island girl is being held at the Porter County Jail on a charge of failure to appear.

Joseph Cafasso, 52, was taken into custody on Jan. 22 on a warrant charging him with failure to appear, court documents show. According to the Inmate Information System at the Porter County Jail, he is being held on a $500 cash-only bond, with no release date presently scheduled.

At 6:45 p.m. on Oct. 2, Conservation Officer Robert Cauffman stopped a male subject on the main road leading into Indiana Dunes State Park after clocking him at 35 miles per hour in a zone posted at 20 mph, Cauffman stated in his incident report.
The subject, who identified himself as Robert Stormer, 58, advised Cauffman that he did not have his Rhode Island-issued driver's license with him. Cauffman stated that when he ran the name Robert Stormer, it “came back not on file” in both Indiana and Rhode Island. Cauffman further stated that when he ran the Social Security number provided by Stormer, it returned to a 13-year-old Rhode Island girl.

Although the subject repeatedly insisted that his name is Robert Stormer and that there must be a problem with the computers, he eventually admitted to being Joseph Cafasso, 52, Cauffman stated. A second computer check listed his driver’s license in Rhode Island as suspended.

“During this conversation he stated he was hiding from members of the CIA and FBI along with several other stories,” Cauffman stated.

In addition to the charge of false informing—a Class B misdemeanor punishable by a term of up to 180 days in jail and a $1,000 fine—citations for speeding and driving while suspended-infraction were issued to Cafasso and an initial hearing was scheduled for Nov. 17.

The CHARGE OF FALSE INFORMATION. Did you get that, FLY?

Court documents show that Cafasso did not appear at the hearing and a bench warrant for his arrest on a charge of failure to appear was issued on Nov. 24. Cafasso was arrested on the FTA charge on Jan. 22, he entered a plea of not guilty on Jan. 23, and a bench trial before Porter Superior Court Judge Julia Jent has been scheduled for 8:30 a.m. on Nov. 19, court documents also show.

Meanwhile, on Feb. 2, a woman who said that she had met a person calling himself Robert Stormer on an on-line dating service, and later lived with him, asked Chesterton Police to take custody of a computer which she said belongs to Cafasso. The woman advised the CPD that her son had recently been contacted by a man whom she believes to be a “Special Forces soldier who went rogue and tortured people in Afghanistan” and was subsequently “jailed in a military prison.” That man, she advised the CPD, “blames Cafasso for his troubles” on the ground that Cafasso “was instrumental in building a case against” him.

The CPD did take custody of the computer at Cauffman's request, police said, after Cauffman indicated that he may apply for a warrant to search the computer as part of an ongoing investigation of Cafasso.

Last week, however, Cauffman told the Chesterton Tribune, through a spokesperson, that he is no longer discussing the Cafasso case and has turned it over to the FBI. Special Agent Wendy Osborne of the FBI's Indianapolis office told the Tribune that, per policy, she can neither confirm nor deny the existence of any ongoing investigation.

The responding CPD officer appended to his report a Wikipedia entry purportedly on a Joseph A. Cafasso which claims, among other things, that a man under the name of Cafasso had worked for Fox News as a military and counterterrorism analyst until leaving the network when allegations surfaced that he had misrepresented his military record.

At least 3 beds.. at least 2-1/2 baths.. ranch homes.. pool (preferably heated, but can add that) .. preferably with an outdoor spa.. (preferably with 3 car garage, but not necessarily... depending on the house, 2 might be enough).. nice, but not nuts with the price.. you know.. I think we probably cap out at $400,000.

If you didn't notice, I did remove some homes.. I think the ones listed are the ones worth seeing (plus the one near by brother that I'm not even counting on, but would still like to see).. Thanks for picking so many of them! :) It's so hard to decide when so many homes look nice in photos, but you have no idea what they look like in real life.. how do YOU choose out of so many?

Marquette International, Ltd. has a web page that mentions Joe Cafasso, here, entitled the "Resume Liars Club". I contacted them with further information about Joe Cafasso since this is what they show on their page about him, along with a number of other con artists who haven't been honest:

In late 2001, Joe Cafasso, aka Jay Cafasso, succeeded in becoming a Fox News military consultant during the Afghanistan campaign. He convinced the cable network that he was a retired Lieutenant Colonel in the US Army, had served in Vietnam and won the Silver Star for bravery and was later part of the failed secret mission to rescue US hostages in Iran in 1980. He had previously put forward the same story to the Patrick Buchanan presidential campaign and WABC radio in New York City, both of which accepted the line. Disgracefully, this story was a fabrication. According to published reports about his military records from Fort Dix in New Jersey, Cafasso's entire military career consisted of only 44 days, between May and June 1976, when he was honorably discharged as a Private First Class. Suspicions were raised about Cafasso at Fox when some of the information he provided was inconsistent and his office style clashed with others. An investigative firm was hired by another analyst to look into his background and determined that his story was a fraud. He was fired by Fox News Washington bureau chief Kim Hume in March 2002 prior to the investigative report being disclosed. Cafasso was considered a "gifted storyteller" by some of the people he encountered in his travels. His current activities are unknown.

His "current activities" certainly are known-and much has happened since March of 2002. This was acknowledged just recently in February of 2009 (but only the Indiana Chapter), and I sent them a link to the Chicago Tribune article mentioning Cafasso's adventures in Indiana as Robert Stormer to at least bring readers current on what is fast becoming legend: the saga of Joe Cafasso, the casanova; con; fraud; and embezzler.

Joe Cafasso's fraud case is now in the hands of the FBI instead of the Indiana state Department of Conservation.

Time will tell if they will do the same thing as they did in White Plains New York - which was keep a file open and pretend they were working on it .

The FBI used Cafasso as a source in the past, my instincts tell me it would be very embarrassing for them to admit what a long time fraud Cafasso is. Cafasso just loves to report people to government agencies to stir the pot when he's getting even or has a vendetta against someone.

Reportedly, Ms. Cramer's laptop is now in the FBI's hands as well.

Traffic offenders are never turned over to the FBI t my knowledge, fly! So what, the Porter County Jail said there were no "charges" when you call the automated number. If there were no charges, he couldn't have had a warrant put out for his arrest, and he wouldn't be sitting in the clink for not showing up in court.

Will the FBI just free him and return the laptop to Ms. Cramer?

International Check Fraud Busted by Police

Let's hope that police and authorities put some resources behind following what Joe Cafasso has been up to since at least 1998.

He has reportedly been embezzling money and forging government documents; and taking unsuspecting single ladies and paramours for their posessions and money.

In the video they talk about check fraud scam by con artists connected with the Russian mafia and that some were hiding in the Republic of Georgia. In January 2008 these people were nabbed.

I would hope that authorities could put together the tale of Joe Cafasso; because to my knowledge he's a two-bit con artist on a lesser scale-whose career doesn't extend outside the United States, but DOES extend to states all over the country.

The video is very telling from the viewpoint that Ed Artis knew who Cafasso was when he was pretending to be a "Knight".

Ed Artis starred in a film called "Beyond the Call" about his humanitarian exploits, and Kathryn Cramer is peripherally involved in that project even though her expertise is science fiction rather than documentaries. Interestingly enough, though, I cannot find any of that evidence on the web anymore. Still, she reviewed the film and gave accolades to Ed Artis for his heroic contributions to mankind.

Cafasso showed up at the Tribeca film festival where the film was screened as the Lt. Col. Gerry Blackwood persona with an eyepatch and a cane.

In October of 2007, some people had already put this together regarding Stormer, Cafasso and his Gerry Blackwood personas, as you can see from this comment at No Quarter:

They are meant to impress; and I'm certain that is the type of identification that Joe Cafasso produced in absence of his driver's license in Indiana. To a skilled professional, however, these childish imitations are no replacement for the real thing.

The last I heard, the going price for becoming a member of "Knightsbridge" also cost you - about $5,000.

It is worthy to note that the screen grabs of "Lt. Col. Jay Mosca" that Kathryn Cramer has on her flickr set of Cafasso under different aliases leaves out the "Lt. Col" part of the alias he was using. But it was recorded by the Dursts on their web page.

That's about all I knew about my father's career, until I met Lt. Col. Jay Mosca at a recent party at our office. He is a retired weapons expert from the Army.

Unfortunately, Lt. Col. Jay Mosca is just one of the numerous aliases manufactured by Joe Cafasso. Lt. Col. Jay Mosca does not exist; and neither does Rob Stormer or Robin Storm - the supposed tornado chaser!

This is from the Durst Family web page, that I referred to here.

When I first published that information, I wasn't even aware that there was a video there - my computer didn't open it. Now that I have a different system, I found that it was a file that I could convert and view, so that's what I did. It's a touching story the Durst family has about Lt. Col. Jay Mosca remembering their dad's work, but as you can see in the video, it was a stretch of the imagination to believe what he was saying was true. But notice how convincing he is. He is very skilled at getting people to believe what he's saying.

For those people who haven't seen Cafasso in action before, this is probably the lengthiest video I've seen of him. Perhaps, though, Andrea's family has taken family type videos that include him talking; I can't imagine film rolling without him inserting himself - no matter what the format is.

The only other one that I'm aware of is - the one where he is HIMSELF, Joe Cafasso, and appeared in the movie "Outfoxed", below.

He has appeared on the podcast "Messing About In Ships Episode 16" as Rob Storm,so we have an audio for him on that podcast to compare to the others. We also get a special little treat: a press release where Cafasso as Rob Storm was going to speak at the Indiana Dunes, courtesy of the Indiana State Park Nature Center. One has to wonder if he was paid in some way or form for that.

What an odd visual that is, particularly when you know that Andrea was Joe Cafasso's love interest and the widow that he victimized. In light of that, it is very interesting to see how Andrea Ello was helping Joe Cafasso with her own blog.

Bunny E. Rabbit has a blog at blogspot, and the posts are published by "Andrea".

The last post on this blog is from September of 2008, presumably somewhere around the time that he was arrested in October (or at least stopped) while she was sitting in the car alongside him. The drowning incident that he injected himself into where he raised the suspicions of rescue workers and authorities occurred in August 2008.

A traffic stop at Indiana Dunes State Park has led to an ongoing investigation involving a man whose past includes swindling Fox News and national political figures, local law enforcement agents say.

Joseph Cafasso, being held at Porter County Jail, was the subject of a 2002 New York Times article and has a Wikipedia page detailing his exploits.

Officials declined to talk about the ongoing case, which involves several federal agencies.

I wonder if this might involve the open FBI investigation in White Plains, New York.

"There are a lot of things involved here that I can't get into at this point," said Officer Bob Kauffmann of the Department of Natural Resources, who initiated the investigation.

It's believed that Cafasso impersonated rescue personnel in a drowning at Lake Michigan last year.

"Impersonated" is a rather odd description when you consider that he attempted to take over the rescue operations and began barking orders. And what they neglect to mention is - this article at the Tribune which mentions the drowning quotes Robert Stormer - out of all the rescue personnel who were there conducting search and recovery operations. Inadvertently journalists seem to use Cafasso as a source, even when he's using an alias! Moths to a flame!

In October, Kauffmann stopped Cafasso for speeding and driving with a suspended license.

Cafasso also provided Kauffmann with false information, including the alias "Robert Stormer."

There it is; Cafasso provided false information - a false ID to authorities. I am told by a reliable source that he produced a military-type id that looked amateur-ish; with the name "Robert Stormer" on it. I don't know specifically, at this point in time, however, what that ID was supposed to be; but he didn't have a driver's license on him and was driving on a suspended license. It was his real identification he was supposed to show in court, which was why he didn't appear in court - as it says here:

And when Cafasso failed to appear in court last month, Kauffmann obtained a warrant for his arrest.

The curious case of Cafasso came to light Monday when a Chesterton resident turned over Cafasso's Apple laptop to Chesterton police. Kauffmann is waiting for a search warrant to access the laptop.

I hope they are able to get into it and find what's on it; that in itself would implicate him in a number of crimes including forging government documents.

The mother of the Chesterton resident had been in a relationship with "Robert Stormer."

She has been living with him for about a year.

She was also in the car when "Stormer" was stopped for speeding, Kauffmann said.

The woman, who resides in Tefft, in northeastern Jasper County, met "Stormer" about a year ago through an online dating service. They later moved in together. According to the police report, he took control over some of the woman's finances before she learned he was a fraud.

And he embezzled money from her, which is the main reason she's losing both of her homes and reportedly has nowhere to go!

According to the Chesterton police report, the woman and her son believe that Cafasso built a case against a man named Jack Idema, who also has a Wikipedia page.

"Built a case?" That's a rather odd description of his vendetta against Idema for ruining the scam that precipitated the New York Times article "At Fox News, The Colonel Who Wasn't". But Cafasso doesn't realize how many people at Fox unrelated to Idema didn't appreciate his brash manner, his rudeness, and his temper. And bringing up those Wikipedia pages is rather interesting when "Pleasantville" aka Kathryn Cramer is responsible for so many of the edits and updates there.

The police report continues:"Idema is allegedly a Special Forces soldier who went rogue and tortured people in Afghanistan without approval from his superiors. He was jailed in a military prison for this and he blames Cafasso for his troubles.

That is inaccurate. Idema is a Green Beret, and it is Cafasso who blames Idema for outting him as a fraud and blames Idema for losing his job at Fox. For the journalists who want to keep touting that "torturer" mantra about Idema, people might want to check out the story that was never told in the media about Idema at Cao's blog. I don't take a position either way, but I find it interesting that it is Cafasso who is in jail, but they keep repeating that "torturer" business as if it bears some type of merit. You need only look at the release photographs also at Cao's blog to see that there is more on the Idema story than meets the eye....and there is much more there than at Cramer's edited Wikipedia page on Idema, also.

Police say Idema knew about Cafasso's laptop. Idema contacted the Chesterton man through a phone search and told him he wanted the computer.

So he and his mother brought it to Chesterton Police.

Cafasso was successful in duping institutions and high-profile military and political figures as a well-connected counterintelligence expert who had a high-rank career in the Special Forces, according to an April 29, 2002, story in the New York Times.

Alleged victims included the Fox News network, Pat Buchanan's presidential campaign and "several representatives, military officials and activists to whom he had sold himself for years,"?

Cafasso appeared as a military and counterterrorism expert during Fox's coverage of the invasion of Afghanistan.

"But records indicate that his total military experience was 44 days of boot camp at Fort Dix, N.J., in May and June 1976, and his honorable discharge as a private, first class."

The article states Cafasso failed to show up to provide military records and other documents to The New York Times as he had promised.

The article continues: "Mr. Cafasso, it appears, has used his story of battlefield glories to make friends, find work, and perhaps most importantly, find acceptance among people who walk the fringes of Washington's power corridors, networking his way through a community of retired military officers to arrive at Fox News."

Absolutely priceless! What this article is missing is his masquerade before the Rob Stormer persona as LT. Col. Gerry Blackwood. Robert Stormer is not the only alias Cafasso has used over the years.

Still, this is excellent in terms of allowing people in on the magnitude of Cafasso's crimes and particularly his crimes against women.

This is from the North Country Gazette charging Rob Stormer with plagiarism in October of 2007. When you realize the person you're dealing with is in fact Joe Cafasso, this entire article not only makes a lot of sense, it is quite humorous - as he doesn't like it when people question his faux credentials or challenge him in any way.

The North Country Gazette is particularly sensitive about having articles even partially quoted on any other website, as I have been contacted in spite of my notes INSIDE THE POST regarding acknowledgement and not seeing any contact information in order to request permission to use the material. Hence, I am nuking any further references to NCG except for the link.

Another huge problem with Robin Storm’s story goes like this;

“Yes, we still do fly nuclear warheads over the United States today. We also drive them over land as well. That’s not the point.”

Yes, it is the point when you don’t clarify that point. Nuclear weapons are normally transferred on cargo planes, never on the wings of bombers. Bomber flights with live nuclear weapons ended in the late 1960s after accidents in Spain in 1966 and in Greenland in 1968.

Woman learns beau is apparent con artist

CHESTERTON | A 63-year-old Tefft, Ind. woman, whose son lives in Chesterton, told Chesterton police on Monday a man she met through an online dating service claimed to be Robert Stormer, but really was Joe Cafasso, a con artist of such renown he is mentioned on a Wikipedia Web page.

Chesterton police are involved in the case because they took possession of a computer the woman and her son wanted to get rid of because one of Cafasso's enemies apparently wants it.

Police reports state Cafasso took over some of the woman's finances. The investigation into Cafasso continues.

A timeline on this would be interesting to put together, I will throw some resources behind that.

This was from October of 2007. The more that comes to the light, the more interesting it gets.

He has apparently been living in Indiana with Andrea Ello for about the past year and has been very busy embezzling money from a number of parties in Indiana but extending elsewhere; even across the ocean. But his trick regarding having someone cover a hotel bill on with their credit card has repeated itself numerous times, so those who were taken on that ride can rest assured they weren't alone in that.

In some ways he is a cross between Catch Me If You Can and a "B" version movie of an aging American Gigolo who is still up to his old tricks.

At some point, she discovered Gerry was in fact Joe Cafasso, but before that, she was supporting the posts from the Stuporpatriots blog, and personally witnessed his publishing posts on that blog from her laptop computer.

Especially when you consider that Joe Cafasso was thrown out of the Army after only 44 days as unsuitable for military service.

This fraud has literally made a living from embezzling money from paramours and widows and other people, too. He somehow manages to lure people into his web with dramatic tales of heroism and military prowess (such as rescuing people from shipwrecks and in military operations). He gets raised eyebrows when he mentions being chased by 'spooks' or having to go undercover or 'disappear for while'; and no one seems to ask questions about his possessing "secret" military awards, honors and medals. If only they'd attempt to verify his tales of heroic and noble humanitarian operations as a Knight of Malta--he wouldn't succeed in scamming them to the point where their lives are left in shambles.

It is my hope that the Chesterton Police will do their due diligence in investigating the magnitude of Joe Cafasso's crimes.

CHESTERTON | A 63-year-old Tefft, Ind. woman, whose son lives in Chesterton, told Chesterton police on Monday a man she met through an online dating service claimed to be Robert Stormer, but really was Joe Cafasso, a con artist of such renown he is mentioned on a Wikipedia Web page.

Here she is congratulating herself on the work she has done on Cafasso's wikipedia page, since she as "Pleasantville" spends an inordinate amount of time editing on wikipedia and propping her own work. She created her own bio, and continues to break the rules of editing at Wikipedia, yet somehow they give her a pass. Kathryn Cramer's intense involvement at Wikipedia is one of the reasons Wikipedia should not be relied upon as a source for information. You can verify it yourself by checking the editing page for Jack Idema, also - she is very busy editing and updating that page, as well.

(It is interesting that now that page is "protected" and can be edited only by administrators. Is Cramer now considered an administrator? Or is she merely protecting the anonymity of her involvement on that page?)

Chesterton police are involved in the case because they took possession of a computer the woman and her son wanted to get rid of because one of Cafasso's enemies apparently wants it.

Police reports state Cafasso took over some of the woman's finances. The investigation into Cafasso continues.

It is common knowledge that Cafasso's been working on Kathryn Cramer's mac laptop. Cramer is able to trace Cafasso's whereabouts because apple computers have a feature that allow the owner to remote into it to review, retrieve files move files and edit contents.

(That is not to say that it has a homing device, fly!!

A few definitions of "follow" that apply in this case:

Trace what Cafasso's been doing and trace or follow his whereabouts through what it is he's been doing on the laptop.

That's simple enough, isn't it? That line of thinking is not SIMPLE for some people, I guess.

That means that she knows what files he's creating, what he's writing, etc.-and can even copy these files and/or emails over to her own computer. If Andrea is posting from his laptop and talking incessantly about Indiana, as an example, Cramer can trace or follow it [not literally] and put 2+2 together. If this doesn't make sense to you, I can only conclude that you do not understand that technology to which I'm referring, or are taking me quite literally-but that doesn't make ME the idiot!)

I am certain there is a treasure trove of evidence that Cafasso has left in that computer regarding Robert Stormer, and it is my hope that they are examining what is on that computer regarding identity theft and the forging of government documents.

Kathryn Cramer's connection to Cafasso through his theft of her laptop and the fact that she tried to get her laptop back through Andrea Ello's sons and then freaked out that Jack Idema was interested in the laptop is another point of interest.

There would be no harm done if Idema was aware of Cafasso's forging of documents, proof of aggravated criminal identity theft and any number of other crimes. Idema is brash, rude, and uses crude language, but he's a rather formidable presence in the courtroom, and could make sure that Cafasso is put away and stays put away for a very long time.

Cramer's fingerprints are all over that article and it's rather humorous that she would demonstrate such hubris and bias in such a blatant fashion. Cramer is involved in this feud between Idema and Cafasso, and it appears that she is attempting to portray anyone who wants to see Cafasso pay a price for what he's done as an Idema supporter.

As far as I can tell, however, credit card scams, embezzlement, identity theft and other crimes are exclusively Cafasso's ballywick and Cramer is defending not only a con artist and womanizer, but a criminal of epic proportions.

There really should be - at the very least a book written about what Cafasso has accomplished as a con man; he has made a career out of it.

I am also noticing how she re-named pictures of Cafasso pretending to be Lt. Col. Gerry Blackwood and said he was "Jay Mosca". Let there be no mistake; Joseph Anthony Cafasso loves to pretend he's former military, and did the same thing with his Robert Stormer persona.

What's strange about that article is the fact that he committed aggravated identity theft with Robin Storm's social security number, which is a felony, and embezzlement of funds from more people than just Andrea Ello-and instead of prosecuting this fraud, they are interested in his computer and protecting him from his 'enemies'? While Kathryn Cramer covers for Cafasso by telling people he's in jail for a traffic violation, here is the truth of the matter.

While his relationship was imploding and the repercussions of borrowing money he never intended to pay back began to inevitably unfold, Joe Cafasso as Robert Stormer elbowed his way into a situation where people began questioning just who is this character who talks into a phone he never dialed, a phone which never rang?

He was stopped and because he tried to pass himself off as a person that doesn't exist: Robert Stormer, and later was found to be using the social security number of Robin Storm, a 13-year-old from New Jersey. Cafasso apparently has people in Florida looking for him, too, such as the Coast Guard for what he tried to do after Hurricane Andrea, a giant wave and a shipwreck.

They are holding him, and for good reason. For one thing, it is illegal to lie to law enforcement about your identity, and it is a felony to use someone else's social security number, which is a form of identity theft.

Misuse of another individual's SSN is a violation of federal law and may lead to fines and/or imprisonment. And, disregarding the work authorization provisions printed on your Social Security card may be a violation of federal immigration law. Violations of applicable law regarding Social Security number fraud and misuse are serious crimes and will be prosecuted.

The following provisions of law deal directly with Social Security number fraud and misuse:

• Social Security Act: In December 1981, Congress passed a bill to amend the Omnibus Reconciliation Act of 1981 to restore minimum benefits under the Social Security Act. In addition, the Act made it a felony to
…willfully, knowingly, and with intent to deceive the Commissioner of Social Security as to his true identity (or the true identity of any other person) furnishes or causes to be furnished false information to the Commissioner of Social Security with respect to any information required by the Commissioner of Social Security in connection with the establishment and maintenance of the records provided for in section 405(c)(2) of this title.
Violators of this provision, Section 208(a)(6) of the Social Security Act, shall be guilty of a felony and upon conviction thereof shall be fined under title 18 or imprisoned for not more than 5 years, or both.

• Identity Theft and Assumption Deterrence Act: In October 1998, Congress passed the Identity Theft and Assumption Deterrence Act (Public Law 105-318) to address the problem of identity theft. Specifically, the Act made it a federal crime when anyone
…knowingly transfers or uses, without lawful authority, a means of identification of another person with the intent to commit, or to aid or abet, any unlawful activity that constitutes a violation of federal law, or that constitutes a felony under any applicable state or local law.

Violations of the Act are investigated by Federal investigative agencies such as the U.S. Secret Service, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and the U.S. Postal Inspection Service and prosecuted by the Department of Justice.

In a sane world, that would be enough to get him put away for at least 5 years, according to what I've been able to find on social security fraud. There are ample reasons to believe that Cafasso's earned a cozy cell for himself - either in jail, or in the loony bin. I personally don't know of any people who talk into a phone that I didn't dial and that didn't ring.

Somehow, Joseph A. Cafasso puts people in a position where they run him out of town, but don't press charges; so he just goes on to the next sucker. When you're traveling across the country doing so, and the FBI and journalists have used you as a source, they won't be particularly interested in the truth coming out.

If Larry Johnson at No Quarter is contacted and informed that Robert Stormer is Joe Cafasso, do you think he'll remove the articles that Robert Stormer has written on that site? It will be interesting to see; but he's conned so many people so many times, it's amazing when you seriously take a look at the wreckage he's left behind in peoples' lives.

It is astonishing that he gets very little in terms of natural consequences for this behavior; he just moves on, and in the end, people are happy to be rid of him.

It's not illegal to find rich lonely females, and it's not illegal to borrow money from them. It's not illegal to ignore the debts and skip out, which he has done time and again, and which he's going to do this time. But it is illegal to present yourself as someone that you're not; give a name that is not legally yours, etc. - it's called FRAUD and Embezzlement if you scam someone out of their money on false pretenses.

This has been the method that works for him, and although might be embarrassing to the women he's conned, it doesn't seem to phase him at all...

There is an element of truth to every con artist's game; it's how he pulls in his potential victims.

They just need to remember that where Cafasso is concerned, it's not on the 'up and up' and someone will get hurt - because this is what he DOES. This has been his career - not rescuing people out of a C-130, no Desert Storm, no diving to recover shipwrecks, no humanitarian causes.

Joe Cafasso's cause is himself.

I am open to ideas as to what can be done, many people would like to see him thrown in jail and watch the jailer throw away the key.

Wrong picture on a dating site

Joe Cafasso put the picture at the top on this dating site, calling himself "shipdude" because he's always trolling for lonely hearts to take advantage of...and...because he didn't dare put a real picture of himself up. If you examine it closely, it isn't his eyes, his nose, or the shape of his face.

In addition, if you examine the scuba outfit, it's the wrong helmet - the school hasn't used this helmet for a good 15 years, although-it's being used around the world right now. The picture he's trying to pass off as himself diving is a 15 year old pic wearing a Kirby KMB-10 helmet. The one on the left is the helmet they use now.

This is a KMB57 and it's very different.Cafasso isn't as bright as he thinks; he thinks nobody is as smart as he is, so he can go into areas like this and BS his way through and no one will notice.Plus, no lonely heart is going to examine that scuba suit and think to herself...wrong suit, wrong helmet, etc...she's going to maybe wonder why he doesn't have a more flattering picture of himself up, but since he mentions that if they want to see what he really looks like he can send it to them in secret, I suppose they won't mind that he has that goofy scuba picture up. It would appear as though Andrea is named after a hurricane.

Andrea Ello is her full name, but she allegedly has sufficient identification in order to obtain money from Western Union when it's wired to Robert Stormer.

This convenience keeps Cafasso from being found out, because then he doesn't have to produce a legitimate ID and his true identity remains hidden.

She may also be involved in some credit card fraud working in concert with Cafasso.

There are a number of aliases that people need to be aware of regarding Joe Cafasso, the changeling. If you haven't been to KC's website recently, you need to add 'shipdude' (where does he get the money to dive?), Robin Storm and Robert Stormer, and watch out for the writings of Robert Stormer at "No Quarter" (such as this one). I wonder how much of that article written under "Robert Stormer" was written with information provided by KC. According to KC's 2008 update on Cafasso, he has at least 15 other aliases, but interestingly enough, doesn't bother to list them.

She claims she 'cares' about his victims! But upon closer examination what it is she SAYS versus her actions that uncovers her true intentions. She is not providing his victims (and potential victims) with his whereabouts and aliases; she is still covering for him.

Her editing of Jack Idema's wikipedia page (look for Pleasantville) alongside Robert Young Pelton who is still upset that Idema discredited his claim of being the first person to interview John Walker Lindh- and Cramer's own stalking of Idema's father in her car are particularly worthy of note. KC is entertaining (although I'm sure she doesn't mean for people to laugh at her)-with her section entitled "clown espionage". That term is an accurate depiction of herself; a clown conducting "covert operations" in order to produce 'scoops' of pure propaganda. American Mata Hari she is not; and someone sympathetic to - or empathetic to Cafasso's victims and family she is not. This is a person who is purely motivated by self-interest and narcissm. She shares a common interest with those who are interested in Idema's whereabouts since he left Afghanistan.

One is left to wonder....why?

If she were truly interested in Cafasso's victims and potential victims, she would have taken more action in order to get him some serious help. The same could be said of his family. Cafasso has surrounded himself with a number of enablers; all of whom need a serious intervention; or perhaps a wakeup call.

As an aside, one wonders what ever happened to her friend SOJ, the blogger in Romania at Flogging the Simian that she fiercely supported until his disappearance from the WEB. SOJ conned Idema supporters out of thousands of dollars because they thought he had the inside scoop on Idema while he was in Pol-i-charke in Afghanistan. They trusted that SOJ would use the money to help Idema, which of course never happened. Another self-interested con, SOJ disappeared when the name Samuel Eddy Reames emerged; exposed by skeptics of his own political stripe, tired of the subtrofuge and lies about having been involved in law enforcement. At about this time-KC hysterically trumpeted that SOJ was a woman, in an attempt to throw people off track. The items that were stolen from Idema's cell with a note left by Tod Robberson showed the way on how to connect the dots--when those items were doctored and published on SOJ's website.

Joe Cafasso remains underground to date, and I have been told by people in the business of finding people that he does not want to be found. This is unfortunate because I am aware of a number of people who are interested in locating his whereabouts.

Nevertheless, remnants of Cafasso's methods remain; and in fact, Scott Covington of the Piano Store fraud fame, has picked up in some areas where Cafasso left off.

There are, however, some differences that I've been able to distinguish: Covington does not travel the country like Cafasso seems to like to do

- he has a home and a wife, and a business - the Piano Store, in Houston, Texas. But, like Cafasso, Covington has bilked people out of money, and his father paid restitution to customers who never received deliveries of pianos they ordered through the Piano Store.

Covington at a point in time was signing comments as "Mitch" Covington, and a blog called "The Mitch and Nan Show" emerged on the web. This was shortly after Larry Sinclair came out publicly on youtube with allegations of homosexual sex with Barack Obama in the back of a limo in 1999, and later in a hotel room in Gurnee, Illinois. "The Mitch and Nan Show" took some pages out of the Cafasso playbook when they printed an autotrack report on "Cao" from Cao's blog that re-emerged on Cafasso's blog, Stuporpatriots---AFTER blogspot had it removed.

An autotrack report is used by police and insurance companies in order to investigate a person's background. But a person who has an account to run those reports is bound to an agreement that prevents them from public disclosure of the contents. Cafasso violated the terms of service with the company, Locateplus, that ran that report on Cao, but Covington is merely using names and addresses of associates of Larry Sinclair in order to harass them. It would be interesting to find out if Locateplus also ran that report on Sinclair; as there seems to be a connection in methods between Cafasso and Covington; and even an exchange of information taking place between them.

Covington had written in 2008 that he would never be afraid of Sinclair and referred to him as an insignificant gnat; a "common criminal". But it is rather interesting that within a short period of time- he would deny who he is when it is clearly Covington's voice on the phone at the number which shows Scott Covington on the caller ID. You can compare the voices by playing back the audio at the piano-delivery blog - where Covington is exposed as a con artist that doesn't deliver pianos that his company is paid to deliver.

Further, Covington's father paid over $750,000 in restitution to customers of the Piano store in order to keep Covington's butt out of jail and avoid charges of fraud.

And now, Covington aka Mitch, is using an autotrack report on Larry Sinclair in order to contact people that are assumed his associates from that report, but not being very intelligent, Covington is using the number that shows "Scott Covington" on the caller ID.

This is where Covington is not as clever as Cafasso, because at least Cafasso is able to travel under aliases without raising a lot of suspicion; at least initially.

Christian Karl Gerhartsreiter aka Carl Rockefeller

Carl Rockefeller may have been captured after having "kidnapped" his own little girl, but the story behind the face is what is intriguing.

Joe Cafasso may have attempted to rub elbows with the rich and famous in much the same way as Gerhartsreiter, but at least his aliases were in keeping with his italian heritage.

Gerhartsreiter, by contrast, pretended to be a distant relative of the Rockefeller family. He married under that pretense, and divorced when his wife began to suspect that his story was not true.

Love is blind, so they say. And Cafasso knows that to be true, as he's infamous for proposing marriage to unsuspecting spinsters while he lays designs on their nest eggs.

Gerhartsreiter had been a 'stay-at-home dad', living in his wife's $2 million brownstone. Not a bad job if you can get it!

But that is just the tip of the iceberg; because after he left Germany, and had gone to school just long enough to get some level of English proficiency, he found his way to the US and found ways to take advantage of people.

Steve Savio, 39, said his mother answered a classified ad in the Journal-Register newspaper from a teen calling himself a German exchange student. He recalled Gerhartsreiter, who slept on their couch before moving into their basement, as a high-maintenance house guest.

“He was mad at us because we made him do his own laundry,” Savio said. “He was expecting to be served.”

He is wanted for questioning in the 1985 disappearance of a California couple, Sohus. He was apparently staying in their guest house under another alias, Christopher Chichester. As it turns out, Chichester was one of many aliases Gerhartsreiter used in his 30-year odyssey.

In 1979, Gerhartsreiter moved in with the Savios family (in Connecticut) and attended Berlin High School as a foreign exchange student. The family said they knew the "snotty" student as Christian Gerhart Reiter. Gerhartsreiter moved to Wisconsin, where he married 22-year-old Amy Jersild on Feb. 20, 1981.
He disappeared the next day, with his new green card in hand.

This was a telling little tidbit:

Chichester soon after left the Savios' house and moved in with a librarian, who asked not to be named.
"He was a con artist," she said. "He thought he was better than everyone else. But he was not self-assured. He was an insecure young man."

Aren't they all.

Gerhatsreiter resurfaced in California around 1985 - this time as Christopher Chichester, a name he seemed to have borrowed from a high school science teacher. Friends and neighbors in California remember a man who tried to cozy up to the high-society crowd in San Marino but never quite fit in.

"I have a feeling he was looking for somebody to victimize so he could just take the money and run," said Carole Iliff, 69, who said Chichester tried to con her late husband out of $1,200.

Chichester rented the guest house of Jonathan and Linda Sohus in San Marino, Calif. The couple mysteriously vanished that year. Jonathan Sohus' remains were found nine years later buried in his back yard.

When cops came to question Chichester he was nowhere to be found. Gerhartsreiter's lawyer said his client recalls being in California but doesn't remember living with the couple and denies any involvement in their disappearance.

In the late 1980s, at some point, he adopted yet another identity - Christopher Crow - and worked for banks, including Credit Suisse, according to a co-worker who worked with him who wanted to remain anonymous. "This guy clearly is a wacko," the former co-worker told The News.

Gerhartsreiter, 47, then pulled off his biggest con of all, marrying executive Sandra Boss in Nantucket in 1995.

They spent some time in New York, moved into a $2 million townhouse in Boston and had Reigh in 2001. The couple divorced in 2007 and Boss, 41, gained full custody of "Snooks."

Another "Catch me if you can" fellow, only he claims to have amnesia or some such rot.

There are numerous parallels here to our Joseph Anthony Cafasso, the original two-bit conman, aka the Carteret Con Artist, including Gerhartsreiter's owning a boat at the marina. He just had it there so he could talk it up, apparently - he never took it out. And the story the FBI used in order to draw him out of the sparsely furnished apartment he was staying in with his kidnapped daughter - was that his boat was taking on water.

Unfortunately, Cafasso, who said he had a Clipper Ship at Bannister's Wharf, didn't even have a rowboat there.

What is absolutely fantastic is the french connection. (There seems to be a consistent theme here!) Cafasso claimed to have a home in France, Scott Covington claims to be jewish and french (what a joke!), and Jonathan and Lynda Sohus supposedly sent a postcard from France after they disappeared.

So much is similar to Cafasso that at times I'm inclined to believe that this Scott Covington fellow is a descendant or is somehow being mentored by Cafasso. The methods they are using to go after Sinclair are so similar that it looks like history is repeating itself.

There are a series of fairly well-documented posts on the internet about Covington's information, which IS public. It is public because HE put it out there. Most business people WANT to have their information easy to find, but Covington, like Cafasso, is the exception to that rule - because he has been found out and there are a number of unhappy customers.

So says the better business bureau.

The address and phone information on the Piano Store - including a map- listing Covington as owner or president, comes up very easily in a simple google search for "the piano store houston texas". Or "the piano store houston texas scott covington". Seriously, don't take my word for it, investigate it for yourself. Test the theory!

Underneath that information (the map, the address, and phone number), you'll find the web address for said Piano Store, with the same information there.

Scott Covington is listed in the white pages under the business name of "the Piano Store" and under the Scott Covington name in Houston, Texas.

I'll have to go through my archives, because there is a considerable body of information here - but it was just brought to my attention that Cafasso has claimed in the past to have another home in FRANCE.

We have been on a long quest to find this abuser of women; the man who skips out on his child support payments and has pretended to be a Lt. Col. when he was actually thrown out of the army, like Jesse MacBeth, after only 44 days of service as being 'insuitable'.

Remember, too, that this man is so desperate for attention he has announced in front of groups of people that he killed a child when he was in Vietnam...only he was never in Vietnam.

Habitual pathological liars tend to find a) people like them, or b) people as prey.

It would seem to me - if this unholy alliance is in fact real, that Covington the felony larcenist and scammer, has teamed up with Cafasso the experienced con artist.

That's the theory we've come up with....but we'll have to watch and learn to see if Covington and the others over at the Mitch and Nan Show have been taken in by a guy who has many email addresses under numerous names and has even been known to tip himself off as another person and forward the emails he's sent to himself as evidence of complete fantasies he's cooked up in Jersey.

Cramer was bamboozled by the guy; and many others have been. So why not the Obama camp? He would fit right in.

The Mitch and Nan Show used information from Stuporpatriots that had been taken down by blogger-but reappeared on a blog post at Stuporpatriots about Pelton's ridiculous book, "License to Kill"-- in order to intimidate Cao of Cao's blog.

Cafasso would rather beat women than fight like a man. Judging from the phone call that Covington made to Larry Sinclair's mother in an attempt to extort money, it would appear they have a lot in common.

We've seen this before. It's the same approach that was taken in the past, and it's interesting that Cafasso is so intent on recycling that information. He may be laughing about the stupidity of the world with his disappearing act, but he's leaving a trail, nevertheless.

We've seen the same presentation on the posts, too.

The Mitch and Nan Show reminds us of Stuporpatriots for a number of reasons.

Take a look at these comparisons, from 10-31 and YWN.

The truth can sometimes be stranger than fiction, and in Cafasso's story, I wouldn't be surprised at all if he's somehow managed to have his way with these people - even using another alias.

speaking of con artists....Scott Covington fits the profile

Since Scott Covington of Houston, Texas stole some information on Cao from Stuporpatriots, it seemed fitting to put a little information on Covington here.

Covington fits the profile of someone who wants to follow in Cafasso's footsteps; he apparently reads stuporpatriots, or is in contact with Cafasso himself.

Either way, it's interesting that Covington is reportedly pretending to be a frenchman at the Mitch and Nan Show, calling himself "Mitch". Yet, as some have indicated, his IP address has been showing up as a Houston IP address when he leaves comments on blogs - until someone tipped him off how to cloak it and make it appear as though he's posting from Amsterdam.

The Mitch and Nan Show seems to be devoted to attacking one Larry Sinclair in a similar manner to which Cafasso attacked Jack Idema and his supporters. Sinclair came out with a youtube video about Barack Obama in the early part of this year.

They have been posting about Sinclair's criminal record as reason not to believe Sinclair's allegations, and attacked Sinclair's mother, and posted personal information about as many people as they could find, which is also a Cafasso trademark. In fact, information on Cao from that infamous autotrack from December 17, 2005 still exists at Stuporpatriots, only on a post talking about reviews from Pelton's book, "License to Kill".

There seems to be some overlap here.

Covington's houston Cingular number is 832-331-5624, and is verified as belonging to Covington, although it was supposedly Mitch's number.

As slick as people like this seem to think they are, their past cannot elude them.

Covington has a past history of Larceny in Texas and passing bad checks in Missouri.

What is Linked in and what is PIPL? Who would link these two websites in reference to Joe Cafasso? Immediately thoughts seem to run to Kathryn Cramer, who seems to have run a big scam in defending herself against the miscreant Cafasso aka Gerry Blackwood...because she was too dumb and blind to notice that what he said didn't match reality. But it's completely fitting because science fiction writers are not living in the same reality as the rest of us.

There are various reasons why you might need to search for people, you may need to find a lost relative, an old flame, a classmate or a business contact - but if you are using a search engine such as Google or Yahoo to search for people, you have probably realized by now that it might work in some cases but in most cases it won't.

Pat Buchanan's recent racist screed in the form of his book, "Day of ~~Rubbish~~ Reckoning" is reflective of Joe Cafasso's ideology, because he worked on Buchanan's 2000 presidential election campaign. Birds of a feather flock together, I always say.

Let's review -traversing the mind of a nutbag:

Cafasso claimed to be numerous things that he wasn't and was thoroughly exposed in the New York Times as a fraud, and a huckster.

Add Kathryn Cramer to the mix some time later; when he was masquerading as Gerry Blackwood in the hallowed halls of Academe at Columbia University, using her MAC laptop. Add to that, the question of $20 grand that Cramer claims Cafasso bilked her out of.

Add to that the questionable behavior with the Presbyterian ministries both in Lombard, Illinois and in Mississippi.

Add to that, the totally fabricated resume, looking for work.

And this resume when he was pretending to be Lt. Col. Gerry Blackwood, a man who doesn't exist.

All in all, it's not a favorable overall picture we're seeing of the infamous con artist, who has been jailed in the past for nonpayment of child support.

Cafasso has laid claim to all of these--being: a lawyer, a marine specialist, a harbor master, a surveyor, an architect, a White House staff member, a Lieutenant Colonel in Delta Force, a Colonel in CENTCOM, a doctor, a nuclear physicist, a biological weapons specialist, a master of martial arts, chief of humanitarian operations around the globe, a specialist in nuclear fission and weapons, a consultant to the United States Senate and Congress, television editor and producer, a pilot, "legistlative director" of the Associated Retired Aviation Professionals, an expert on flight 800, and probably numerous other vocations he's pulled out of his a$$.

"Drop dead, Jack!" You first, Joe. You were the one who was 'dying', complaining to anyone who would listen that you had 'medical problems'...

Read it and weep, Joe. You crawl out of the woodwork because you now have renewed confidence that nothing will happen to you because Idema is in a 'self imposed exile'. How courageous of you to go into your own self-imposed exile and complain you were dying while you thought he might appear in the U.S. to personally thank you for all your contributions to his successes.

You used the fact that Idema was in prison as your exoneration, that what was said about you was based on the words of a conman. You pointed to the fact that Idema was in prison as the sole reason that Rutenberg's article was false. This is a weak yet droll defense. The people who caught onto you at Fox and other places are numerous. You went on to Wikipedia and twisted the words around about what really happened at Fox: they invited you to come back if you could prove your claims were true. But you never went back, did you?

In the poll here, Joe Cafasso beat Jack Idema hands down as the bigger con artist. This is an old grab, the numbers in our poll now are 99% to 0. In the poll at Joe's website, the results were climbing over 90% in favor of Joe's being the bigger conman, but Joe took it off of his website and now his entire sidebar is missing. Joe must have been unhappy with those results!

Cafasso has a little coding problem...maybe he can ask his girlfriend Kathryn Cramer to help him with that. That is, if she's still speaking to him after he bilked her out of $20 grand and stole her MAC laptop.

We took pleasure in recreating the poll exactly as Joe had it done, complete with the mis-spelling of "foce" instead of "force". It's the way he pronounces it with his New England accent, and with little education and a problem with the use of contractions, he probably spells things out phonetically.

How he can pass himself off in the halls of academe with these ridiculous claims of awards and military heroism and accomplishment when he can't spell a simple word is beyond the realm of comprehension. I understand he moved to the hallowed halls of Northwestern University at one point. If true, no doubt, they, too welcomed him like the elitists at Columbia University did. What a disappointment that has proven to be in the search for intelligent life on American campuses today! People who can be that easily bamboozled are not protected from the con games of a man such is this. But he has found a modus operendi that works. He works the fertile fields of academia where people have marginalized themselves and are therefore so much more vulnerable to his scheming, lies, tales of heroism, and military background, which are mostly- nonexistent.

Joe still missses apostrophes, repeating very simple mistakes which have become a recognizable signature in his writing. Posing online under different pseudonyms, his signature glares at the reader. So the little ruse has become very transparent to those of us who have been following it. Which is probably at least a part of the reason why he disappeared. Joe Cafasso is an old pathetic man, with no accomplishments. And no claim to fame but hatred, vitriole, and a passion for ruining peoples' lives. Not to mention credit card fraud and claiming military medals... Popping up where there is government humanitarian aid, Joe depicts himself the hero, ready to cash in!! And this is why we need to know when and where the money changes hands. Although to our knowledge he doesn't have a car, he does have some expenses, like his tobacco habit. The money has to come from somewhere! Could it be Presbyterian ministers play for his train tickets now, instead of his poor mother, God rest her soul?

Joe garnered a whopping 99% of the votes over Jack Idema here as the greatest con artist....hence, the name of this blog.

Whereas at his own blog, Joe had the lead with over 90% of the vote on his own website! But what do you expect? That is where he spent his hours poring through things in order to twist them to trash Idema while he was in prison. That is where he spent long hours online in chatrooms, pointing people to it, attempting to drive traffic to it. What a pathetic blowhard.

Now that Idema has left Afghanistan, we haven't heard a peep out of the little whining windbag of a coward. Which brings to bear more questions, undoubtedly. If Joe is such a valid 'member of the press' or 'journalist' yet disappears when he's found out, this is an even louder proclamation of fraud. Claiming medical issues as the reason for his hasty departures, or that he is in need of an operation, or some such pathetic loser rot, then disappearing from the scene, leaves the people in his wake, doubly angry. He then picks up somewhere else with the same cons.

Cafasso showed up long enough online to change the background of his blog to make certain that people know he's still running about. The Carteret Con Artist blog was a hat tip to his previous design. His changing the background of his blog reveals that he doesn't appreciate the age-old sentiment that 'imitation is the highest form of flattery'.

Yes, Joe, we know you're still there. Yes, we know you were afraid and crying to whoever would listen that the FBI told you to 'lay low'. I surmise you don't have to do that anymore, considering you think Jack isn't there in the U.S.

You look like hell. Lost a significant amount of weight, too. It's no wonder, when your paranoia ran your life for so long. You claimed you were dying, like Ed Artis did, after you heard Idema was released. No doubt you were making appeals for cash with that fraudulent sob story.

When did the money change hands? Or more succinctly, when did the promise of the money you thought you were supposed to get disappear? Enquiring minds want to know!

It's fitting that so many women were behind this, Joe, considering what you've done to them.

The background of Joe's blog has changed, but his name, his game, his ruse, his cons are still the same. He found a success formula, and it works long enough for him to accomplish his goals. But now there are some people interested in Joe getting some jail time.

And we all pray that day comes soon. Sleep well, my friend. The days are growing short.

How to Spot a Con Artist

Paraphrased and edited to accommodate the unique personality of the Carteret Con Artist, our one and only Joe Cafasso.

The clever con artist is a good actor who disarms his victims with an affable 'nice guy' approach. Most people who have met Cafasso say that is how he comes across to begin with, it is only later on, when people have caught onto his game, that he becomes a nasty vicious and physically violent psycho.

Behind his initially friendly exterior, Cafasso is a shrewd psychologist who isolates potential victims and breaks down their resistance to his proposals. Each conquest is a part of a game in which he must 'best' his fellow man or in a lot of cases, woman. Cafasso, like the typical con artist, is amoral, with an excellent sense of timing. He believes that his victims deserve their fate. If caught, he'll probably strike again later. Con artists are seldom rehabilitated.

The Victim

Anyone can be a victim-even a person who considers himself too intelligent or sophisticated to be 'conned'. During the 1920's, "Yellow Kid" Weil routinely swindled bankers, saying 'That's where the money is." Many victims share certain characteristics. Often but not always, they are older, female, and live alone. Cafasso has succeeded in illustrating that point, time and again. They are trusting of others - even strangers - and may need or desire supplemental income. This explains how he ingratiates himself to married women, and promises them work, when he hasn't had a job himself for a very long time. Unless you include his 'humanitarian efforts', which seem to be disguise for something else.

Loneliness, willingness to help, and a sense of charity are characteristics a con artist will exploit to gain a victim's cooperation.

The con artist ultimately will exploit his victim's assets - including life insurance benefits, pensions or annuities, 'nest eggs', home equity, or other tangible property. And he'll usually obtain the willing cooperation of his victim to complete his scheme.

A con artist is difficult to detect by looks alone. But you can often spot him by his words or expressions, including:

CASH ONLY: Why is cash necessary for a proposed transaction? Why not a check?
SECRET PLANS: Why are you being asked not to tell anyone?
GET RICH QUICK: Any scheme should be carefully investigated.
SOMETHING FOR NOTHING: A 'retired' swindler once said that any time you are promised something for nothing, you usually get nothing.
CONTESTS: Make sure they aren't a 'come-on' to draw you into a money-losing scheme.
HASTE: Be wary of any pressure that you must act immediately or lose out.
TODAY ONLY: If something is worthwhile today, it's likely to be available tomorrow.
TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE: Such a scheme is probably not good or true.
LAST CHANCE: If it's a chance worth taking, why is it offered on such short notice?
LEFT-OVER MATERIAL: Left-over materials might also be stolen or defective.

Schemes

The list of fraudulent schemes is endless, but some of the more common con games involve:
HOME IMPROVEMENT

home repair/improvement

magazine subscriptions

unordered merchandise

correspondence courses

psychic fraud/fortune tellers

Always investigate before investing money or signing a contract.

Be suspicious about extraordinary promises of high or unusual monetary returns, or a 'bargain' no one else can match.

Don't discuss your personal finances or give cash to strangers.

Don't be too embarrassed to report that you've been victimized or swindled.

Testify in court, if asked, to help stop this kind of crime.

The Con Game

Most successful con games are old schemes updated for today's circumstances. The old 'salting the gold mine' scheme is still being practiced, for example, but today's 'salting' occurs in living rooms, not abandoned mines.

In the old ruse, you may remember, unscrupulous mine owners would place a few gold nuggets in exhausted mines so they could sell them for inflated profits. In one recent scheme a con artist bought six color television sets at the regular price from a retail store, then sold them, still in their cartons, to six prominent local persons for one-fifth of their original price. Later, he hired several high school students as telephone solicitors to sell 'carloads' of TV sets purchased new from a bankrupt retail chain. When potential customers balked, the con artist used as references the original six customers who had been 'salted.' Before the police were alerted, he collected almost $60,000.

The old 'bank examiner' scheme is still around and working well, particularly among older widows. The con artist, posing as a bank examiner, asks the victim to help him test the honesty of bank employees by withdrawing substantial funds. When the funds are handed over to the con artist for 'examination,' he issues the victim an official-looking but worthless 'receipt' and disappears.

Postal authorities warn citizens to be alert for mail order swindles such as phony work-at-home schemes which require cash deposits or payments. Among all arenas for swindle activity, these are probably the most active and productive for the con artist.

Joe Cafasso will file complaints with the USPIS, because the postal service is one of the agencies who will listen to him. What names he uses in order to file these complaints are unknown to us at this time.

How to spot a con artist

I thought it would be appropros to link to the Secretary of State website of Georgia and warn people about how to spot a con artist. The Secretary of State website is warning people about investments but if they're visiting here, they must have an interest in the incredible adventures of our man, Joe Cafasso aka a million aliases we can't even keep track of. So I've paraphrased some of the tips given there.

Rule Number 1: Con Artists Do Not Like To Be Found

Con artists know that being themselves hurts business. Effective con artists must disguise their true motives. Whether your first contact with the con artist is through an unsolicited email or telephone call or a stranger ringing your doorbell, the con artist takes great pains to look, sound and speak like you or me. Often, con artists like to blend in with others in your group whether that group is political, community (such as the local senior center), religious or other. They quickly get to know a lot of people in the group so they can count on this common bond to spread the word about their questionable investments and reel in unsuspecting investors and/or victims for whatever schemes they're cooking up.

Rule Number 2: Con Artists Dress For Success

Even though con artists would like you to believe that they are "just plain folk," they are smart enough to realize that this alone will not sway you to part with your money or heart. They work very hard to come across as smooth, professional and successful. They might even talk about having a clipper ship at Bannister's wharf! Con artists may dress like they are wealthy and make it appear as though they work out of impressive looking offices or Universities. If your only contact is by email, it may bear a prestigious sounding address. Often, this is nothing more than a email like hotmail. So be careful when Cafasso uses a capital police email address that's at hotmail! Use your brains! Your best bet is to look behind the surface and do some serious investigating before you befriend this individual, and particularly if he's asking you to part with any money.

Rule Number 3: Con Artists Often Appeal to the Dreamer

Never give someone control over your purse strings or credit cards, even if he says the FBI is going to pick up the tab.

Con artists appeal to the dreamer in you. Many people secretly believe that Horatio Alger’s rags-to-riches story can become a reality for them -- if only they get the right break. Con artists will only sabotage your dreams. They promise you the chance of a lifetime without giving you any meaningful written information, will promise you the moon and the stars, only to disappear with your valuables in a short period of time in a puff of smoke.

Rule Number 4: Con Artists Bring Out The Worst In You

Skilled con artists can bring out your worst traits, particularly greed, fear, and insecurity. Fear comes into play when the con artist warns you that you're "rocking the boat." The worst possible line you can fall for is 'trust me'. Con artists try to make you feel inadequate if you don’t believe them. In addition, con artists know how to make you believe that if you lack confidence in them, this is a personal slight to their abilities. If you find yourself making any decisions based only on your emotions, watch out!

Rule Number 5: Con Artists Are Fair Weather Friends

Before you get to know them, con artists are very friendly and can be very charming. They take a personal interest in you out of the blue. They call back when they promised they would. Each time, they tell you even more good things, which could be completely made up. You may feel you’re being pressured. You are. Face it. Despite his or her kind words, the con artist will do anything in his or her power to make a sale. Too often, contact with the con artist dwindles and then stops altogether, once he's squeezed what he wants from you. If you cannot get answers to your questions, this may signal danger. Always be careful. Always ask questions and expect straight forward answers.

Rule Number 6: For Every Silver Lining, There Is A Cloud

And that is true with the world of Joe Cafasso; no matter what alias he is using at the moment. Be careful of a guy with an eyepatch, an Indiana Jones hat, a cane, or any combination. Be careful of a guy who complains about physical ailments and needing an operation; that might be the signal that he's about to split on you. And most of all, don't fall for the line that he's dying, because all he's really dying for is his next mark!

Notice the picture in the upper lefthand corner. This picture was photoshopped and was sent to Cao over the Christmas holiday from Joe's email address, wishing her a Merry Talibanmas or something like that. Getting no answer, he threw a tantrum and put this up at Joe Cafasso's Stuporpatriots blog in January.

Apparently upset that he STILL didn't get the desired response, the next phase of his stalking of her seems to be this:

The newest development is the discovery of more of what appears to be Cafasso's handiwork. Click to enlarge the image above that was found at technorati. What he's referencing is a blog of his own creation, which he has since deleted. It is an imitation blog made of 'your worst nightmare' including someone's personal information, and the allegation that there is a criminal record. It is also among the pictures rotating in the sidebar where Cafasso has stolen Lynn Thomas' identity. This is what is called identity fraud.

The offending imitation blog is no longer there. The imitation blog was your-worst-nightmare, and the real blog is yourworst-nightmare. The authors of all the Cafasso blogs are not all known to this writer, unfortunately. We are a 'blog swarm', and a few of us communicate with Cao (me and 10-31, and I think 10-31 is in touch with a few others), but aside from that, we're not organized in any real sort of a way except that we share one interest: in seeing justice served on Joe Cafasso where the instances of harrassment and theft, credit card fraud, child support delinquency, stolen property and numerous other crimes need to be answered for.

It is interesting that he is attempting to tie Cao in with a number of people who are trying to expose him, perhaps even accusing the other bloggers of being Cao herself. Doesn't he recognize all the the people he has left devastated in his destructive wake who are interested in seeing justice served???? He just left Mississippi, how many did he leave behind there? How many did he leave behind in New Jersey, New York, and Rhode Island? How many did he leave behind in Louisiana?

Now we have that completely false and defamatory information up at technorati, private information that he obtained through an autotrack report, and another example of the abuse of Locateplus's autotrack report. Once again he has used that information and put it out there for public consumption, although the imitation blog is gone.

This blog, [Carteret Con Artist] was created in October of 2006 in direct response to the lies, hysteria and hyperbole of Stuporpatriots, which was put up as far as we can tell, in March of 2005.

For over a year the lies at that blog went unanswered, and for too long Joe Cafasso has been allowed to run loose, leaving destruction in his wake. Cafasso's campaign of deception goes far beyond his obsesssed campaign against Jack Idema.

This is why Cafasso should be investigated:

His claims of military prowess, medals, etc.
His stalking and harassment of women
His physical assaults against women
His attempts at getting his hands on federal grant money of Christian ministries
His flashing a Vatican passport
His claims that he is associated with Knightsbridge International
His claims that he has committed war crimes
His claims that he has a top secret white house clearance
His use of numerous aliases
Credit card fraud
His theft of personal property and killing a dog

And those are just off the top of my head.

False claims of military service

Joe and the rest of the idiots should take note of what laws Joe Cafasso has violated, including the Stolen Valor Act of 2005.

What follows is a part the Federal False Claims Act, and by all appearances, Joe Cafasso is guilty of having done this, because he was circulating his fake retired Lt. Col. schtick under the ficitious name of Gerry Blackwood, just last year, in 2006. Perhaps it is too late to get him under the Stolen Valor Act of 2005, because he assumed another name and identity in order to do the same thing he did with Fox under his real name, Joe Cafasso.

As a sidenote, it would appear as though his denials and revisions at Wikipedia are solely designed to avoid any legal repurcussions of his fraudulent military claims; but let us not forget that he has attempted to defraud Presbyterian Ministries in Mississippi of their grant money, trying to obtain bank account numbers, after trying to elbow his way in as Director of Development. When he didn't get away with that, he called a number of federal agencies with complaints, trying to appear as a whistleblower, when all he really is -is a two-bit hack con artist who didn't get away with that scam.

But just the fact that he keeps trying to do it means that it must work at least a part of the time. So what we're interested in is when he actually succeeds and is able to line his pocket with stolen funds that were meant for another purpose.

Colonel Cafasso, has claimed to be a highly decorated Delta Force Commando, who has been awarded three Silver Stars for Valor in Combat, Air Medals for Valor, at least one Bronze Star for Valor, and participated in Operation Eagle Claw- the Delta Force rescue attempt of American hostages in Iran.

  (a) Liability for Certain Acts.--Any person who--

      (2) knowingly makes, uses, or causes to be made or used, a false
  record or statement to get a false or fraudulent claim paid or

      (4) has possession, custody, or control of property or money
  used, or to be used, by the Government and, intending to defraud the

the terms ``knowing'' and ``knowingly'' mean that a person, with respect
to information--
      (1) has actual knowledge of the information;
      (2) acts in deliberate ignorance of the truth or falsity of the

      (3) acts in reckless disregard of the truth or falsity of the
  information,

and no proof of specific intent to defraud is required.
  (c) Claim Defined.--For purposes of this section, ``claim'' includes
any request or demand, whether under a contract or otherwise, for money
or property which is made to a contractor, grantee, or other recipient
if the United States Government provides any portion of the money or
property which is requested or demanded, or if the Government will
reimburse such contractor, grantee, or other recipient for any portion
of the money or property which is requested or demanded.
  (d) Exemption From Disclosure.--Any information furnished pursuant
to subparagraphs (A) through (C) of subsection (a) shall be exempt from
disclosure under section 552 of title 5.
  (e) Exclusion.--This section does not apply to claims, records, or

Joe Cafasso's resume as Gerry Blackwood, revisited

Joe Cafasso wasn't all that smart when he sent this resume around. He committed a crime, which others have been brought up on charges for, when he claimed all of these things:

Gerry is a retired Lt. Colonel serving with the U.S. Army for 26 years.

But he has the unmitigated gall to go far beyond that ridiculous claim:

Gerry served with the 179th Military Brigade/MACVSOG Command and Control South SVN, 1970-1972.

Wow, what a surprise, we have another complete fabrication. Joe Cafasso is only 50 years old. He was born on August 2, 1956 and will be turning 51 in August of this year. He is simply NOT OLD ENOUGH to have served in any capacity during that period; except maybe STUDY HALL in High School. He should have still been in High School during the 1970-1972 period! Although there is speculation as to whether or not he graduated at all, considering his poorly developed grammar and writing skills. If he graduated, he would have graduated High School in 1974 or thereabouts (presuming he didn't flunk a grade). When you consider his inability to get along with people, I would further speculate that he had problems, not only at home, but in the neighborhood and school, during those years.

Anyone who REALLY KNOWS and UNDERSTANDS what he's talking about here should be on the floor laughing. Center Lane was completely abandoned shortly after it was begun. It was about 'remote viewing'. An explanation of what that is follows:

Remote viewing is the ability to travel psychically out of one's body to remote locations....At the height of the Cold War, both the Soviet Union and the United States developed a new and terrible form of warfare called psychotronics. This school of espionage used ESP and psychic spying as well as telepathic hypnosis and even remote killing. Tim Rifat provides scientific explanations of how remote viewing works and detailed instructions on how to learn the techniques-information that is taught in the US on courses costing many thousands of dollars.

It was so terrible, so lethal, that it was discontinued! But it should also be noted that Tim Rifat claims to be an expert on remote viewing; when a rational person would recognize this as complete hogwash. It would be great fodder for a science fiction book, though, perhaps it was one of the reasons that Kathryn Cramer fell for his line of BS?

If it worked so well, why aren't they doing it anymore? It was also referred to as Grill Flame, Sun Streak or Stargate by DIA and INSCOM, and SCANATE by the CIA. I wouldn't imagine there is NOT a lot of science behind this. It sounds more like hocus pocus, on Star Trek; something a science fiction writer like Cramer would come up with. Cafasso seriously thinks that people are going to believe this hooey?

By the early 1990s the program was plagued by uneven management, poor unit morale, divisiveness within the organization, poor performance, and few accurate results. The FY 1995 Defense Appropriations bill directed that the program be transferred to CIA, with CIA instructed to conduct a retrospective review of the program. In 1995 the American Institutes for Research (AIR) was contracted by CIA to evaluate the program. Their 29 September 1995 final report was released to the public 28 November 1995. A positive assessment by statistician Jessica Utts, that a statistically significant effect had been demonstrated in the laboratory [the government psychics were said to be accurate about 15 percent of the time], was offset by a negative one by psychologist Ray Hyman [a prominent CSICOP psychic debunker]. The final recommendation by AIR was to terminate the STAR GATE effort. CIA concluded that there was no case in which ESP had provided data used to guide intelligence operations.

It wasn't even called Centerlane anymore by then.

When Army funding ended in late 1985, the unit was redesignated SUN STREAK and transferred to DIA's Scientific and Technical Intelligence Directorate, with the office code DT-S.

So I suppose he might have the timing right, if nothing else. During the early 1980's, it was called Centerlane.

As far as we know, and we could be wrong, there were only a little over 40 people involved in the program over its entire lifespan, with just 23 remoted viewers, some who demonstrated a high level of psychic ability, and some who were connected with Scientology. This is not something to brag about, Joe, DUH!

The military and others who have used Cafasso as a source should be interested in finding out if he ever tried to squeeze money out of the government based on his military expertise or more succinctly, a military record that he completely fabricated out of thin air!

In short, Cafasso's escapades under his different aliases should be investigated. Joseph "Jay" Cafasso should be under investigation; a Grand Jury hearing should be impaneled. His numerous crimes should be exposed, and personally, I think some news outlets should pick this up - this is big news, along the lines of Frank Abegnale.

By claiming that he has a top secret ATOMAL clearance, he is claiming he has access to classified information that could damage or endanger national security if in the wrong hands. I would say Cafasso's hands are the wrong hands, he has NONE OF THIS expertise! He doesn't have a phd or any of the things he claims in this fake resume. Gerry Blackwood doesn't even exist; it's a completely fabricated persona he invented!

Mr. Bill, et.al, Joe Cafasso should not only get jail time for defrauding Kathryn Cramer out of $20 grand, but he should get jail time for claiming military experience that he hasn't, and be turned over to the Secret Service for questioning. The Fox News job is one where he was hired completely under false pretenses. He is not a Lt. Colonel, never was a Lt. Colonel, and is not military in any way shape or fashion except in his overly fertile imagination.

Anyone who stands up and says 'the reason I work with Knightsbridge International is because I killed a kid in Vietnam' - when he wasn't in Vietnam, isn't old enough to have spent any time in Vietnam, spent only 44 days in the army before getting kicked out for unsuitable service, should have his head examined. He needs to seriously spend some time with a psychiatrist, on meds, in a padded room! And take the people who fell for his lines with him!

Amidst the odd undertakings of our pathetic stalker Joe Cafasso, is the mysterious deletion of the blogs "Tiffany-Twisted" and Your Worst Nightmare (a copy of this one). This post was written in November of 2006, but I held onto it to publish at a more likely, more felicitous occasion. Time has a wonderful way of presenting opportunities, and so, here's a love letter of sorts to Joe, who should know by now that his time as a free man is probably very short.

Now, Joe is accustomed to having the upper hand, as most of us know. Or at least he liked to THINK he has the upper hand. He uses threats, intimidation and brutality, lies and obfuscation to achieve it. Interestingly, now, the tables have turned and that's hit a nerve. He is now officially 'out of control'. Instead of acting like the gent who's always thinking (that most people know), he's now acting like an hysterical fishwife yelling out of a window. We assume that this imaginative website was the handiwork of Cafasso because they have his signature fingerprints all over them and mention certain individuals who he carries on about at Stuporpatriots.

"Tiffany-Twisted" was devoted to Cafasso, Robert Gates, Jack Idema, Lynn Thomas, and others. The purpose seemed to be solely in order to confuse the truth about Cafasso which seems to be sneaking out all over the internet, despite his threats and illegal actions. Cafasso is taking the same tired old action we've seen in the past against the people he thinks might be onto him and completely fed up with his crap.

Like the people at Fox News were.

Here's the thing; he doesn't know how many of them there really are. He can't change his modus operendi from the methodology which has worked for so long, because he's stuck. He's not flexible. He can't improvise, adapt and overcome. He found a success formula, isn't working anymore, so he's doing precisely that which he's quoted himself; the definition of insanity. He's doing the same thing over and over again now, expecting different results. Even though it's clear he wants to send a message to anyone who might be thinking of revealing his true nature, the simple facts which have grown into a mountain of bs only a bovine could love. What do skiiers do when an avalanche starts? What are they instructed to do? They're instructed to get the hell out of there because you can't stop an avalanche once the sound has reverberated through the mountains; the momentum only builds, you could get killed from the falling snow. But Joe defies the laws of nature, he knows perfectly well all that he's done; and the laws he's broken in order to accomplish his goals, the false stories he's spread, the conversations he's had with himself on the internet under different pseudonyms, and the endless energy he's spent in order to hurt other people. But to have people point it out? Gee, it looks as though we're not supposed to do that in Joe Cafasso's world. He's supposed to continue getting away with it, right??? WRONG.

He has committed identity theft, but regurgitates the same terms we've read time and again at Stuporpatriots regarding other people; repeats the same problems with grammar and contractions, accuses women of having Jack Idema for their boyfriend, when they've caught onto his little game. Much like Kathryn Cramer, who calls people who've caught onto Cafasso's game people who've been 'brainwashed' by the other side or had a conversion experience to the Jack Idema Cult.

Whilst I'm on the subject, we should remember the strange bedfellows they keep...and that what they accuse others of doing, they're oftentimes guilty of having done themselves.

It's the same tired tripe we've heard from both of them elsewhere, and it must be disturbing that people are beginning to respond to the two of them like people did in the fable about the little boy crying "Wolf". Cafasso is like a broken record and this type of thing is very recognizable, regardless as to the name he uses. His hysteria is merely growing as the appearance and disappearance of sites like these tells us.

There is a never-ending stream of personal attacks on people and malicious lies from this man, all online, some offline, using other underhanded devious methods, such as having mail re-routed and other crimes. Just on the one hand you can add up the federal offences, which then move over to the other hand. It is odd that he doesn't realize that it's unacceptable behavior; perhaps because he's been getting away with it for so long. Funny thing is, he's boxing himself in with his own disreputable behavior, and doesn't even recognize it. This is a man who's losing his marbles! Although it would seem that by not recognizing or caring that his behavior is criminal, he started out with one or two missing, anyway.

Tiffany-Twisted was targeting Jack Idema supporters such as John Tiffany, and the "Your Worst Nightmare" solely targets Lynn Thomas from Cao's blog. She has been a vocal supporter of our work; as she has been one of the targets, as we've discussed earlier. Each little piece of the story, told by different individuals, is helping us put together the bigger picture. But they're too stupid to keep their mouths shut, and keep running off. Cramer has taken to making a complete fool of herself over Cafasso which would leave one to believe she's a woman scorned. What other possible explanation could there be? Certainly it's not the money she claims he stole from her; that 20 grand, or the computer which she seems to have done nothing about to reclaim.

Joe's psyche is obviously coming apart at the seams. Who's psychotic and homocidal? It's the man who couldn't get his mitts on the Al Qaeda tapes and supported Jack Idema's assassination in order to get them.

“I told [told [CENSORED]…you should have just used a suppressor and blew him [Jack], blew him away,” Cafasso later said during a meeting in Washington, DC.

Apparently, Cafasso and FOX News were upset that CBS 60 Minutes II had obtained captured al-Qaida training footage from the advisor that Cafasso and FOX News had wanted first. Cafasso was willing to go to any lengths to get exclusive FOX coverage, even through an assassination.

Seems as though his affinity for identity theft is now surfacing, although he's running around deleting some of these not long after they're put up.

This one is no longer there, but you can take a look and see that the picture he ripped off and stuck in the left hand corner is the same one he has up at Stuporpatriots with his own image photoshopped in with a turban on his head as mini-me. Mini-me will have his personal awakening, his epiphany soon enough-very soon.

I'm going to add these to the header, but we have Tom Adams and Jake Adams as new names Cafasso has been using, maybe insinuating he's somehow involved with Samuel Adams, who knows?

Samuel Adams beer is the Samuel Adams Boston Lager, which seems to fit in with Cafasso's drinking persona, although he seems to favor Jack Daniels. Still, as someone who likes to pretend that he's a member of the big money elite, he might well be trying to pretend he's related to the Samuel Adams family of Revolutionary times, it's hard to say what goes on in this ligger's brain.

Now, the company that produces the Samuel Adams Boston Lager produces 11 varieties of beer...and several special varieties which are seasonal, but it would make sense that Joe would claim that he has some type of heritage like this...he's a narcissist, who along the way, picks up the names of prominent people and then pronounces their affiliations and associations as his own. He's a chameleon of sorts.

With more and more people made aware of what Cafasso has been doing to others in his lifetime, including running off, delinquent on his child support payments, and other infractions, it should be interesting to see where he turns up next, or if he just decides to go underground until the heat is off.

By the way, Bicanic has it wrong about Cafasso being 56 years old. Cafasso is not 56; he falsified that number in order to make himself old enough to have gone to Vietnam so that people would believe his story about working with Knightsbridge International as a result of his killing a 14-year-old child when he was in Laos on a black ops mission.

Cafasso likes this religious crowd although he really is a Wolf Wolf in Sheep's Clothing. Cafasso pretends with all groups - a non-denominational and equal opportunity liar with all!

He told Mississippi Presbyterians he was getting paid by Catholic Charities while embedded there although his roof was free because he slept in a Presbyterian Ministry apartment - ate food on ministry grounds - claimed the Vatican was wiring money to ministry - OF COURSE, that never materialized!

What a joke; a story about our boy is unfolding with the New York diocese! Boy, Joe, you stomped on the wrong Catholics from the Big Apple! You should know better than taking on those who live St. Patrick's but then again - you never did know your way around the circles you pretend to run in, because you don't!

You run when the gig is up, even with NY Catholic Charities!!! They claim Cafasso, while pretending to be Blackwood elsewhere, as Jay Cafasso, waltzed into the Chancery Spring of 2006, claiming he was a Knight of Malta!!! That's a pretty high society in the Roman Catholic Church; but then, like a bum, he said he "wanted to volunteer!" This is laughable, since real Knights have their own organization to volunteer for and are some of the most remarkably successful and wealthy Catholics in the Church!

What were you thinking Cafasso - Didn't you know how transparently fraudulent and stupid you sounded to people? Guess not, because when they told our boy Joe/Jay/Gerry that he would have to fill out a form like any other volunteer - no matter if Cafasso's story SOUNDED A BIT WEIRD and UNBELIEVABLE. - oops, Carasso got a phone call; claiming his phone was "vibrating," (the only thrill he is getting nowadays) so he just had to take the call, walked out to ostensibly take the call and guess what - he turned into Casper - never to be seen again!

Another Gig Up - Joey, Jay, Gerry, Jerry, Mosca, Cafassaro, Cafasso, Adams, Jake, Tom, whatever the hell his name is for Sybil's Reality Show Hour! The stories are rich! A reality show gone bonkers! Now, the Monsiquer and NY Catholic Charities have put out a red alert on our boy! One would have thought that by now - our boy would have known that no Knight of Malta just swaggers in off the street to volunteer??????????? You gotta love this guy - should have asked for a padded cell and maybe he would have had a roof over his head!

Editor's note: Reporter/photographer Paul Dunn is traveling with a group of Greenville men delivering relief supplies and providing assistance to the area near Thibodaux, La. This is a report on their third day in the field.

THIBODAUX, La. – Despite growing frustration over the pace and substance of the disaster relief effort here, members of Greenville's Cajun Country Convoy kicked themselves into high gear on Monday to help victims of Hurricane Katrina.

The Greenville men – Dick Carney, 66, of Peace Presbyterian Church; Randy Riddle, 50, of Hollywood Presbyterian Church; Danny Gonzalez, 50, of Covenant United Methodist Church and Homer Tyre, 24, of The Memorial Baptist Church – were partially hampered Monday by President Bush's trip to the Gulf Coast.

Security concerns all but shut down relief missions within a 25-mile radius of the president's entourage, said Jay Cafasso, who is overseeing logistics for the Thibodaux-based religious relief effort, dubbed J2K.

Several members of the convoy were poised to accompany other relief workers into New Orleans on Monday, but were grounded by the president's visit.

The quartet has worked the past couple of days inside the Thibodaux Fireman's Fair Office and Warehouse, which is being used to store donated supplies. Because of the need there, they have been unable to pursue relief missions to nearby hard-hit areas, such as Houma and Grand Isle, both on the Gulf Cost.

And though they're ready for other challenges, the men have toiled with intensity and good humor inside the 40-by-100 brick and corrugated tin building. The Greenville men were called to Thibodaux at the request of the Rev. Bill Crawford of Thibodaux First Presbyterian Church.

Crawford is helping coordinate the joint undertaking between Catholic Community Services and Presbyterian churches affiliated with the Presbyterian Disaster Relief agency.

Since arriving in this southeast Louisiana bayou town of 14,200 on Saturday afternoon, Greenville's relief workers have unloaded supplies, built four 32-foot-long shelving units and stacked and sorted mountains of food, clothing, paper products, tools, cleaners and other items intended for Katrina's victims. Monday, the men united their muscles and brains for the ultimate warehouse push.

The result: "God's Depot South," a Cajun Country Convoy grocery store. They'd decided Monday morning to spend their day stocking the plywood shelving units they'd built the day before, but before they were 30 minutes into their job, Riddle had an idea.

"I know. Let's arrange the food like it was a grocery store," he told the others. "Just think of yourselves as grocery clerks."

Without so much as a dirty word or blink of an eye, the three other men got to it. Soon, the place was an indoor farmer's market waiting to happen.

"I've got corn. I've got carrots. I've got peas, and I've got yams," Riddle sing-songed as he stacked canned vegetables.

Before you knew it, his buddies were needling him, laughing as they did.

"Hey," Riddle responded. "Just call me ‘the grocery store stock boy Nazi.' ”

Little by little, back and leg muscles by back and leg muscles, the shelves began to fill.

A fortress of stacked soup cans anchored the middle of one shelf, an equally impressive barricade of canned vegetables another. Bulk cans occupied their own places of distinction – peas, carrots, soup, ketchup.

Other food species, though lonely in their separateness, were more distinctive: A can of "Robert Rothschild Farm Onion Blossom Horseradish Dip" sat segregated on the shelf, as did a can of "Olde Cape Cod Gourmet Lobster Bisque."

Nearby, 32 cans of sardines in soybean oil waited for a lucky recipient, as did one can of "Tropical Red Papaya in Light Syrup."

Someone would get four packs of Spam, too – perhaps more than they bargained for.

The mere mention of the canned meat, called "Spamtabulous" by its manufacturers, elicited groans from everyone except Tyre, an ex-U.S. Marine.

"Ummm, Spam, that's some good stuff!" he said. "I love Spam."

As the men got the last of the supplies on the shelves, Gonzalez rejoiced.

"I'm kind of running on adrenaline," he said. "I'm tickled to death to get this stuff organized."

The men are hoping for a different kind of adrenaline rush, today.

They're ready to escape the Thibodaux Fireman's Fair Office and Warehouse.

"I'm just kind of dismayed by the effort, so far," Riddle said. "We've accomplished some good things, but we're ready to get out and directly help some people."

Tyre says "mental constipation" is causing the operation to drag. "I think they (organizers) have this Third World attitude here, and the situation is bad, yes, but not like that," he contended. "They're over-thinking."

Kathryn Cramer left out this blog [Carteret Con Artist]; the most important out of all the 'sister' blogs that she accuses of 'defaming' Cafasso. Gosh, there is a much larger collection of sourced material here than anywhere else, including Cramer's collection of personal diatribes. From Cao's blog comes an incredibly devastating example of why Wikipedia should be taken with a block of salt:

She's talking about Cramer there, and then she goes onto explain why she said that.

Here is an excerpt from her conversation with Jossi at Wikipedia about edits on Joe Cafasso (see here):

I am of two minds about whether to comment here, since I am not a neutral observer. It is notable and fairly well established that Cafasso and Jack Idema have a feud going.

A feud? The grab from the left is from Kathryn Cramer dot Com. from the sidebar on the right. Click here, and it opens up. Lol…a “feud”; Is that what you call it? The Colonel That Wasn’t stole your computer, lied about who he is, lied about his health, disappeared and turned up in Mississippi and did it to other people, and you put up a ‘call for information’ but it’s Idema and Cafasso that are having a feud? Give me a break.

I would say that the evidence tells me that YOU and Cafasso have a feud going, lol…why are you looking for him, again? Wasn’t it because he lied to you? Doesn’t he lie to everyone? Doesn’t Cafasso ‘have a feud going’ with the WORLD [when people stop believing him]???

Here are few pieces of evidence that can be cited: Idema is known to have co-written Robin Moore’s book The Hunt for Bin Laden (Idema even appers on the cover). (As I recall this is discussed in Robert Young Pelton’s Licensed to Kill.) The book contains an unfavorable discussion of Cafasso. Idema quotes from the book, using it as a reference on his official website ( Superpatriots.us) concerning Cafasso. HOWEVER, if you check the text of the passages Idema quotes, he has rewritten them to claim that Cafasso tried to get him killed. Also, Cafasso was a defendent in one of Idema’s lawsuits. The documents concerning the existence of the law suit are public record on the site of a Los Angeles court. Quotng from public record court docs would be a more appropriate way to document the feud than Caosblog.

Let’s check those passages, shall we? Let’s take a look at the book in question, but let’s also remember how idiotic this woman sounds. Remember, I’m not making up that Cafasso stole her computer, charged an expensive hotel bill on her credit card (which she apparently didn’t check) and that she claims he owes her 20 grand. These are indisputable facts admitted to by Ms. Cramer herself:

* information concerning debts & unpaid financial obligations
* incidents involving computer equipment or credit cards
* medical conditions
* employment history
* documentation such as photographs, videotapes, audiotapes
* transcripts or other documentation concerning public events he attended
* documents he presented

I’m sure the reason you’re ‘calling for information’ isn’t to ‘defame him’, lol…, right? It’s only anybody else who writes about the guy who is defaming Cafasso, according to you, which puts you in the only privileged position to write about him.

I’m not sure what Cafasso’s being a defendent in one of Idema’s lawsuits has to prove except that since he doesn’t have two pennies to pinch together and is hungry to dip his grubby hands into grants given to Christian ministries, I would imagine he’s pretty angry about that. He reacts very strongly when his lines of BS are no longer accepted or believed by people, we’ve seen that pretty clearly here at his Stuporpatriots blog.

Considering his psychiatric profile, it would seem as though he would be capable of just about anything in retaliation, wouldn’t it? At least to a reasonable person. This is also from your website:

There is so much evidence out there that demonstrates that Cafasso is a very dishonest person, but now, we’re supposed to set all that aside in the case of Jack Idema and listen to Psychos R US.; Cramer, and Cafasso; over the evidence:

The quote is DIRECTLY OUT OF THE BOOK, you stupid b*** but if you have the first edition printing, which was rushed to press, you won’t see it. Subsequent versions, including the paperback and the MacMillan version, all have that quote EXACTLY AS QUOTED, and nobody at the Superpatriots website rewrote anything.

Where is the comingling of defamatory statements? I missed that. Just as in the case of the photo album she said I had of her son- that didn’t exist, just as in the case of claiming I was stalking her and her family, and just as in the case of Michael Teague, Mookie Spicoli and all the other examples I’ve talked about here, Kathryn Cramer is not only off-base, she is lying. Either that, or she’s as dumb as a rock, but either way, the results would be the same.

Here is a dingbat that is seriously drawing conclusions on the basis of lies out of Joe Cafasso’s rotting mouth. It was one thing when she didn’t know his identity. But it’s completely another thing now that she knows who he is. what he’s done to numerous people, and is still standing by it. This is amazingly stupid. I know it’s a lot to expect from Kathryn Cramer, but instead of listening to Joe Cafasso’s sob stories, she really ought to get her facts straight.

Kathryn Cramer has absolutely no business editing Wikipedia. Cramer should have been STOPPED from writing her own bio, her husband’s bio, putting up information on Idema, putting up information on Cafasso, and linking to herself. She should not be allowed to create accolades to herself out of thin air. Cramer is entertaining complete fantasies about her alleged literary prowess, which is little more than bad science fiction writing. She has a completely out-of-control imagination; not to mention, an amazing sense of hubris and inability to face reality. Someone with a fertile imagination who can’t discern between reality and fantasy needs some serious psychological help, in my amateur opinion.

But that is where she’s exactly like Joe Cafasso and the two of them completely deserve each other.

There is no greater satisfaction than looking at Cramer - wearing that ugly green bathrobe with mud on her face. That is a picture that I will remember for time immemorial.

He lost 50 pounds, ditched his glasses, and shaved off a mustache and beard to alter his appearance. Now, he has something like, "the Indiana Jones look," going on, said Mendenhall Mayor Randall Neely.

While in Simpson County, without knowing he was being thoroughly investigated by local law enforcement, Cafasso had the backbone to meet with Mayor Neely, the Sheriff, representatives for a senator, and Simpson Count Emergency Services Director. Neely said, "We knew he was a fake, we just wanted to see where he was going."

Evidently he was going somewhere because now he has disappeared from Mendenhall. Neely said the last time he had seen Cafasso the con man had said he was going to St. Dominic's to have his gall bladder removed.

That behavior too was part of his typical pattern. Most of the reports have indicated that when things began to go "bad" for the con man, he would "suffer" some illness or injury that required medical treatment and simply disappear.

Although local law enforcement knew Cafasso was a fake, they also could not find that he had broken any laws. Zealous work on local, state, and national crime computers have also not provided any outstanding warrants. Although Cafasso leaves a swath of stolen identifications and credit card theft, it appears he did none of that while in Simpson County.

However, the man had a plethora of approximately 15 aliases. It is suspected there are warrants against him under other names. Cramer seems to want to grab all the traffic for herself; but we doubt that people will actually want to share information with her, considering she seems to be in total collusion with the man.

Don't take it seriously, Kathryn, there is such a thing as satire, and since you've made yourself a public figure, and Cafasso seems to want to garner a lot of attention as being some kind of legend in his own mind, you two are really a pair that was destined for each other.

Apparently the thought police (meaning Kathryn Cramer and her merry band) don't like it when they're challenged by an individual who seems to know quite a bit about the story. I've noticed some interesting things up at Wikipedia; the editors themselves seem to be quite annoyed.

Ms. Cramer, please do not take this the wrong way, but your personal experiences and blog are simply not acceptable as material to be included on Wikipedia. The section you added fails the core policies of No Original Research and Neutral Point of View. Continuing to re-add the content will likely result in a block. A link to a news article about the arrest of an individual does not demonstrate any connection to GoDaddy. I think the hiatus is about over now, and it's time to resume the story, which seems to be a neverending saga.

Cafasso's campaign of hatred, revenge, theft, ghostwriting and aliases is all-consuming, and it's showing. His health appears to be failing, as the photograph he posted of himself at Stuporpatriots attests. Those who've known him as both Blackwood and Cafasso recognize this is what he looks like today. This is how he appeared at the Tribeca Film Festival for the screening of "Beyond the Call", introducing himself as Gerry Blackwood. He writes at Stuporpatriots "Who is Joe Cafasso? We don't know." Yet, Joe Cafasso's fingerprints can be found all over that website, without even looking that hard. He posted "A Personal Letter to Jack Idema", by Joe Cafasso, and the claim that "Joe Cafasso thinks it's funny that people think he's Gerry Blackwood" or something similar. So is Joe Cafasso laughing at Kathryn Cramer? In her updated call for information, she broadcasted that Cafasso bilked her out of $20 grand, and that among his aliases is the name "Gerry Blackwood". She adds two alias names he's apparently used, of which we weren't aware; Jake Adams and Tom Adams. You wouldn't know it at Stuporpatriots; he has stopped mentioning her. She must have gotten stuck with that hotel bill. So money is purely the reason why she is exposing him; not because she's doing the 'right' thing.

The poor man must have a serious health problem that is affecting is thought processes. Some thought he purposely made the transformation to Blackwood and dropped about 50 pounds, now it appears it is health-related, which is probably the reason why Kathryn Cramer is interested in any previous health issues in her "Call for information".

So the story turns full circle, and the people he befriended and used are beginning to admit the truth. Although Ms. Cramer was taken for a ride by Cafasso, to the point where she bragged that she was working for the CIA, borrowing his Clint Eastwood swagger, saying 'make my day', she still has a special place for him in her heart, as she indirectly refers to this blog, claiming no affiliation with us, and makes the point that those heartless Cafasso blogs should have compassion for him and his victims. Cafasso, in turn, after taking advantage of her, taking her computer, and who knows what else, doesn't mention her at all at Stuporpatriots at all, although there was a time in the not so distance past that Kathryn Cramer and Joe Cafasso at Stuporpatriots were trading information and links. Tragic.

Interesting thread of comments here at Cao's blog, where Cafasso emerges after having been offline for at least a few months. One of his first visits after he returns to the internet is to Cao's blog, for the sole purpose of insulting and harrassing her. He just can't bear that his campaign of misinformation has been interrupted by people exposing the truth.

We've seen this action pointed out by Cao when she was on the receiving end of the harrassment and threats from Cafasso at her blog. Now he's moved on to another victim, apparently, and he's fervently checking this blog to see if we're going to make mention of it. Why should we? He's imploding. He's having a virtual meltdown and we should sell hot dogs and buns to warm in the afterglow!

Another one for the history books...Cafasso published as Blackwood in the New York Sun. Here he tries to convince us that he's against elite universities and their campaign against the ROTC on campus. This is after his speech at Columbia University when he stalked off in a huff. Why would he support the ROTC at all when he's against all forms of aggression? He makes reference as 10-31 points out, at the end of this rant, to "those who are fighting in two combat theaters today defending your principles". This is rather hypocritical if you understand the magnitude and viciousness of his destructive campaigns against those who have actually fought. Few people know the breadth and depth of his terrorism; it is indeed astonishing. People have indicated their amazement at his brazenness; but when you continue to get away with certain behavior, it's 'behavior rewarded is behavior repeated'. And we should be nipping this right here and now.
